No major funding or cost-sharing of the project comes from any company or educational institution. Theo works full-time on improving OpenBSD and paying bills, many other developers expend spend significant quantities of time as well.
Ongoing operating funds for the project are generated by sales of CDs, tshirts, and posters, so if you like yours, please buy one for a friend.
Please be generous, and OpenBSD will keep making a release every 6 months. This is our 10th release on CDROM, and we certainly hope we can continue!

Goal
Copyright law is complex, OpenBSD policy is simple - OpenBSD strives to maintain the spirit of the original Berkeley Unix copyrights.

Because the OpenBSD copyright imposes no conditions beyond those imposed by the Berkeley copyright, OpenBSD can hope to share the same wide distribution and applicability as the Berkeley distributions.
