Hi, I'm facing a very specific problem. I'm working in a research laboratory and I need to have a very silent measuring-pc. The sound of the CPU cooler and the power supply fan interferes with the experiment, so I need to have as little noise as possible. Who can help me with this?

www.hardwareinfo.net heeft een review van een low noise pc, kijk daar maar eens, wel een via cpu

Use an Alpha 8045 heatsink ik combination with a Papst 8412NGL for your CPU. Then replace the default PSU fan also with a Papst 8412NGL. Finally you could buy a Silent Drive for your HD and replace chipset fans for large heatsinks.

Dikke server in andere kamer zetten en een diskless client Celeron PC onderklokken voor clientgebruik

use zalman vga heatsink for your videocard
use zalman flowerheatsink for your cpu (depending on your cpu speed ofcourse)
use zalman psu
and use studio sound isolation in your case
if u plan to use studio sound isolation then u have to use case fans!! otherwise your case will become to hot.
try using fans using 5 volts of the of your psu kabel (red and black not yellow and black)
further more use arctic alumino between the flower heatsink and the cpu.
harddisk silence bays does wonders for those not so silent hd. otherwise buy seagate drives u won't hear them (maybe if u read or write to it but otehrwise not...) anyway use hd silence bays it does wonders.
no cd rom or other devices hooked up i got a cd writer (that's really a nono for silent pc's) and a dvd-rom and their really loud try looking for silent drives if u really need one (see the zalman site for more info)
if this doesn't work u should look at water based cooling systems!!

i am building a supersecret system (read : still saving for it)
but for the guys of tweakers.net i will say it
dual tulty (0.13micron will allow the lower heatproduction)
so i have 2 Silverado Noisecontrol for it (they will run @ 6volts) (tyan Tiger 230T ordered)
the harddrives are Seagate Barracuda 4's (7200rpm) for booting/gaming and Samsung Spinpoint for storage (5400rpm)
both are most silent drives available for delivered performance...
i am gonna fill the case with low noise papst fans (when was HCC again ? ) hanging on those things that can make a fan run at 0 ,7 or 12 volt...
and i have a Chieftec 340 watt PSU that i'm gonna tweak
gonna kick the fan out,and get 2 of those fanducts,and use 2 lownoise papst 12cm fans (1 for blowing,one for sucking)
and i'm gonna use it in a Add-tronics 7850 server case (or is it 7890
) with anti-sound-foam

Hoi, bedankt voor alle goeie tips. En ja, sorry, het had inderdaad in het Nederlands gekund (een en ander slim opgemerkt door executor ). Engels is mijn default mode (standaardinstelling...) voor dit soort kwesties, maar dat had dus niet gehoeven op tweakers.net. In ieder geval zal ik gaan kijken wat voor mijn geval de beste oplossing is. Oh, en om even terug te komen op justice_strike: het gaat om de beweging veroorzaakt door de geluidstrillingen; het is namelijk een nanometer-precisie-experiment.
