10/18/2001, Essential Reality, developer of 3D control products for interactive gaming, entertainment industry and educational uses, has announced that its Software Development Kits (SDKs), for its new P5 glove-like peripheral, will be made available in November.
The response to the P5 has been overwhelming, so we have decided to move up our schedule and sign up developers immediately," said Martin Currie, VP of Business Development of Essential Reality. However, due to the heavy demand for the P5 SDKs, there will be limited availability. Software developers should contact us at mcurrie@essentialreality.com, to get their names put immediately on the list. Developers working in many different operating systems and game console environments can apply for a P5 SDK, including Windows 95/98 and 2000, XBox, Nintendo, Playstation game consoles, as well as Mac OS X.
Applications of all kinds will be able to use the power of our new P5, noted David Devor, Executive Vice President of Essential Reality. P5 will be particularly well suited for gamers, since the majority of todays games have a 3D user interface. Action games, RPGs, first-person shooters, adventure games and sports games will all be enhanced by the ability to move easily and intuitively in 3D space.
P5 provides the computer gamer with an ergonomically designed glove-like device, which controls the fast action in 3D game software through diverse hand gestures. Pull your trigger finger in 3D space and the on-screen gun shoots in real time. Flick your fingers away and a game character is thrown against the wall. Lift your palm and an animated helicopter slowly rises into the air.
P5 uses the latest in Essential Realitys proprietary bend sensor and tracking technologies to enable full interaction with a 3D environment. Fully USB compliant, P5 will be compatible with Macs, PCs, and next-generation gaming systems, including PS2 and Xbox.
