I try and stay away from the mega dump. Chris doesn't like them, so I don't do them out of courtesy.. besides I would rather do a bunch of 2K dumps at well spaced intervals while maintaining a regular production level..

Om zeker te zijn heb ik dat aan Chris gevraagd:Hi Chris,
From the history of DPC we have learned that doing MegaFlushes (Big Dump's)
leads to more people knowing about the project. And that leads to more, and
more active users. And more users is good for us, as a team, but also good for
the project.
Because we want to have more active members now doing ECCp we are organising
a MegaFlush at 19 october.
This will be the moment the totally new DPC site will be presented
(
http://www.dutchpowercows.org)
But,
From the forums of TA a rumour has begon that you don't like MegaFlushes.
Can you please tell us, what do you think about MegaFlushes ?

En dan nu zijn antwoord:Hi Ko,
I don't recall ever saying that I don't like Mega-flushes. Perhaps I did
give somebody that mis-impression, but I certainly didn't mean to.
The only time there's a potential issue is when a whole bunch of points come
from a single IP - my CGI is right now configured to accept only the larger of
50000 DP's or (50000*200 bytes) per IP per stats cycle. Should the need arise,
I can increase this (or allow unlimited from some fixewd, trusted IP addy's).
Since the CGI is running on www3.nd.edu and not the main web server, I don't
think that server overload is a real issue. At least, I haven't heard anything
from the University yet, so I have no problem with it. In the unlikely event
that this becomes an issue in the future, I can configure Apache on a Linux
box of my own for accepting results in large batches. In any case,
Mega-flushes are fine with me if people are having fun doing them. It's kinda
fun, actually, for me to go online in the morning and suddenly see that we've
gotten 50,000 points in 6 hours (which is a rate I hope we will soon get to on
a regular basis anyway).
Cheers,
Chris
Kortom, Chris heeft helemaal niets tegen MegaFlushes
Doe dus allemaal mee met de MegaFlush ter ere van de nieuwe WDO site
