Ik heb sinds een maandje een Linux Machine draaien (Slackware 8.0). deze bak vliegt er helaas hardhandig uit elke keer als ik veel data over mijn eth's pomp.
dan krijg ik een redelijk onleesbare kernel dump op mijn StOut, en werkt zelfs remounten met de Magic SysRq key niet meer.

ik heb al verschillende 2.4.x kernels geprobeerd (2.4.5, 2.4.9, 2.4.10, allemaal stable) en mijn NIC's zijn beiden 3Com 3C905B-TX.
ik heb dit probleem eerder gehad met 2.2.19, en daar heb ik het opgelost door iets met een packet frame size (??? oid) te klooien in de kernel. nu is die optie er in 2.4.x niet meer te vinden (kernel bakken). ik wil perse 2.4.x gebruiken, want mijn firewall is gemaakt met IPtables. en dat wil ik graag zo houden..

heeft iemand een oplossing? of een suggestie???

Ik heb hier meer mensen over gehoord. Zij probeerden het op te lossen door de max_interrupt_work (bij mij line 208) in 3c59x.c te verhogen naar 64.

Misscien dat het voor jou ook werkt :?

nope....
ik ben het gedoe hiermee (ben al 2-3 weken op zoek naar een oplossing) goed zat.
zo zat dat ik nu 2x een Intel Pro/100+ NIC heb besteld.
komt op hetzelfde bedrag als wat ik voor mijn 3COM's kan krijgen in de verkoop.
dus probleem opgelost.
