Ik heb een tnt2, maar het draait maar maximaal op 640x480, 16bpp, iets mindere kwaliteit textures, met iets van 20fps en het ziet er niet uit...

Zwarte beeld ligt waarschijnlijk aan de modes line in je XF86Config file.
Waarschijnlijk heb je daar maar een mode staan, zet er wat meer modes achter als
je alleen 1024x768 hebt moet je er zeker
800x600 en 640x480 bijzetten.

Je moet het zo zetten.
"1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
Achter elkaar dus, als je X opstart start hij als eerste keus met 1024x768 (of andere)
en later kan je switchen met resoluties.
Quake zal zelf switchen naar de goeie modus wanneer quake deze modus kan vinden in je config file.
Het werkte bij mij zo...
