[BC3] Update Southbridge Patch v0.15

NOTE: Version 0.14 solved many user''s problems, but increased the temperature of the CPU on some motherboards

Version 0.15 is an experimental version that should solve problems without affecting the CPU.

This is a Windows driver that will patch ViaTech chipsets. It will solve these problems:

* Files copied from one IDE hard disk drive to another are corrupted
* The computer stops "freezes", "hangs", "locks up") when playing sounds, especially to a Creative SoundBlaster LIVE! card
* The computer stops ("freezes", "hangs", "locks up") when copying to or from an IDE DVD, CDROM, or CDRW drive

This patch is intended for KT133A, KT266, and Pro266 boards that contain the "686B" (VT2C686B) chip, but it can be tried on almost any motherboard with a ViaTech chipset

Zag in je sig dat je een swift heb op je 1333TB.
Wat is je temp op deze TB en is dat op 7 of 12 volt.
I.v.m. het zelf aanschaffen van z''n TB.

Zal binnenkort posten, mijn siwftech krijg ik pas morgen dus... comping up soon... en ik zet hem eerst op 7Volt... kijken of dat goed presteert vanwege geluid op 12Volt

Schrik niet als je hem op 12 volt laat draaien.
Het is net of je pc opstijg.

Hhehe ach ik ken de Delta60HP op 7200rpm... dus maar is t geluid op 12V wel een relax geluid... als je muziek aanhebt of aan t gamen bent??? want mn compie staat gewoon op een zware versterker aangesloten met relaxde speakers dus...

tnx op zich, maar ik hoop nie dat ie op mun nieuwe bordje (KT7A raid) nog warmur wordt want ik zit nog me un standaardkoelur..., al w88de op mun nieuwe GlobalWin FBK38 (hij is fijn )

;)Ik denk dat de buren gaan klagen als je die fan probeert te overtreffen met muziek.

Ach je merk het zelf wel.

Heb hem op 7 volt draaien omdat ik nogal veel surf, en dan is het wel storend als ie op 12 volt draai.
Maar als je aan het gamen- of muziek luisteren ben valt het niet meer op z''n straaljager naast je.8-)

Lees het wel als je temp bekent is.

Misschien een idee om het in je sig te zetten net als ik heb.

Bij mij werken die patches al sowieso niet op mn MSI K7T Pro 2A, ik heb zelfs het idee dat ze het probleem verrergeren: al na 10 sec mp3 luisteren kapt ie ermee... (zonder iets van 20 ), dan maar nog in PIO draaien he.... bah.

nee het is de 686A , ik heb haast alle patches geprobeerd maar copieeren van de ene HD naar de andere HD is standaard foutmeldingen , erg jammer dat het niet werkt, want ik wou 1 HD alleen als backup gebruiken, maar of ik dat nog meemaak hahaha

de 686a heeft dat probleem niet.
Er is dus iets anders met je systeem aan de hand.

of de 686A dat probleem niet zou hebben is me niets van bekend, tuurlijk heb ik al een helehoop geprobeerd , maar alles wijst er gewoon op dat het wel degelijk die bug is.
maar als iemand nog iets zou weten, hoe het op te lossen, ben ik je aardig dankbaar.

One of our visitors has posted the following:

the German magazine c''t tried the 686B fixes and found that some boards *still* do not work correctly, even with the bugfix! They wrote that on some boards they had to run the test for *several hours* before data corruption occurred, so it is extremely diffictult to test whether your board works 100% reliably or not.

They conclude that the *only* reliable workaround they found was NOT USING the second IDE channel AT ALL. I think you should pass this advice on. Users with 686B south bridges who want to use more than two IDE devices should best use a PCI IDE controller for their additional devices...

Zijn we mooi klaar mee als d''r werkelijk geen andere oplossing is

Krijg je nog ies lekker trap na dan. Eerst fl 499 neerleggen voor zo''n plankje. Dan blijkt vrijwel zeker dat je ook nog ies extra controller kaartje moet kopen

tja.... ik lees nog regelmatig het forum op de via website , en daar word je wat dit betreft niet echt vrolijk van.
sommigen hebben baat bij die patch, maar dat zijn dus nog steeds uitzonderingen.

Ik heb een 686A chipset maar wel degelijk de symptomen van de 686B-bug.....ik moet ook DMA uitzetten om te voorkomen dat bij het kopieren de boel blijft hangen en soms na halve minuut pas weer verdergaat. Ik heb ook een SB live. Heeft iemand hetzelfde misschien???

Ik heb een KT7 Turbo RAID . Wel , ik KAN gewoon alleen m''n DMA op m''n plex aanzetten , en dan vindt Nero em niet meer . Zonder DMA werkt alles ivm IDE perfect . Heb ook SB Live! en het zijn krengen die vervangen gaan worden door een Fortissimo 2 .
