Mijn Ebay-account is opeens geblokkeerd 'decision is final'

Even iets waarvan ik toch behoorlijk verrast ben en tegen jullie 'aan wil houden' voor het ophalen van ervaringen.

Afgelopen week kreeg ik een e-mail vanuit eBay "MC999 Your eBay account has been suspended - ".

Your account has been suspended because recent account activity has raised serious security concerns. We've taken this precaution to protect our members and the eBay community.

Due to the suspension, you won't be able to use your eBay account in any way. This includes using another existing account or registering a new account.

Any outstanding selling fees are due immediately, and any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file.

We appreciate your understanding.

Omdat phisers zich een rondje mailen dacht ik eerst aan phising maar mijn echte eBay-account mailadres was gebruikt en de mail leek ook echt van eBay te komen.

Daarop ben ik zelf naar eBay gegaan om in te loggen en na het inloggen kreeg ik daar ook in mijn account te zien dat ik ben geblokkeerd. Ik gebruik eBay niet vaak en mijn account is al vele jaren oud dus ik was stomverbaasd en vermoedde dat iemand, ongeacht dat ik een veilig wachtwoord heb en MFA gebruik, toch toegang heeft gehad tot het account. Op naar de support.

Zeer groot was mijn verbazing ook dat ik hierop een reactie kreeg, met nauwelijks details en de mededeling dat geen beroep mogelijk was.

Ingegeven door mijn enorme verbazing, heb ik hier toch een reactie op gestuurd. Hierin aangegeven dat ik de situatie niet begrijp, mijn account al enige tijd niet heb gebruikt en wil begrijpen waarom een policy zou schenden. En ook dat als mijn account zou zijn misbruik ik graag mee zou willen werken aan het herstel ervan. Ook hierop kwam een teleurstellende reactie.

Er wordt gesproken over activity patterns, wat schieronmogelijk is want het is maanden geleden dat ik ben ingelogd op het account. En ook voor die tijd heb ik geen verdachte zaken gedaan al zeg ik het zelf.

Zijn er meer Tweakers met deze ervaring en zien jullie nog mogelijkheden om hier iets mee aan te vangen?

Eerlijk gezegd vind ik dit vooral het frustrerende deel: niet eens de ban zelf, maar dat eBay je blijkbaar een levenslange uitsluiting geeft zonder enige concrete uitleg of mogelijkheid om feitelijke onjuistheden te corrigeren.

Ik heb nooit verkocht via eBay, ik gebruik MFA, er zijn geen onbekende transacties zichtbaar en eBay weigert zelfs de categorie van de vermeende overtreding te noemen...

je hebt kort gezegd 3 opties.

1. nieuwe account maken anderen naam en via een vpn.
2. het zo laten.
3. kortgeding en rechtszaak. dan is hoe je reuzen zoals google en Microsoft tot een beter antwoord kan dwingen.

Er bestaat een koppeling, meen ik me te herinneren, tussen paypal en ebay, kan daar iets gebeurd zijn? Ik weet uiteraard niet of je Paypal gebruikt. Of misschien een andere connectie?

Het antwoord dat gegeven is is zo nikszeggend als maar mogelijk is. Je kan een aangetekende brief sturen naar de DPO 'Data Protection Officer' sturen met een verzoek om uitleg en wederhoor van een mens (zoek op internet hoe dat moet, artikel 22 van GDPR/AVG). Of dat enige zin heeft weet ik niet.

Gadverdamme, ik lees die reactie nog een keer, wat een verschrikkelijke gekunstelde 'oh je bent zo lief, het is echt niet jouw fout maar we {censuren} je in je {censuur} en rot op en kom nooit meer terug' reactie. Daar hebben ze iemand veel geld voor betaald, om je het gevoel te geven dat het helemaal niet aan Ebay ligt en dat je vooral moet wegblijven. Yuk, alleen daarom al zou ik, als ik het was, de procedure doorzetten simpelweg om te zorgen dat ze er werk aan hebben.
