Twijfel: Mini PC opsturen of zelf (laten) oplossen

Hi allemaal,

Ik heb een vraag over mijn Minisforum mini-pc (Neptune HX80G: AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800H & RX 6600M / 32GB RAM + 512GB SSD). De afgelopen tijd valt de pc zo nu en dan uit tijdens gamen (bijv. bij Satisfactory, Split/fiction) en de performance is slecht.

Na het checken met MSI Afterburner zag ik het volgende:
Bij het opstarten van een game springt de hoogste GPU temp direct naar 110°C+, terwijl de gemiddelde GPU-temp maar 65–70°C is. (zie screenshot)



Dit gebeurt bij sommige games direct in het menu. De pc valt bij hogere belasting vaak uit.

Ik heb al geprobeerd:
Schoonmaken, betere airflow + fan erop
FPS caps / lagere instellingen etc.
BIOS en software etc. laten amper aanpassingen toe

Het lijkt dus een koelingsprobleem (slechte contact, koelpasta/pads?), maar ik weet niet of ik dit zelf moet fixen (laten fixen door iemand met ervaring) of beter de pc terug kan sturen en hen (minisforum) ernaar kan laten kijken. Ik zit nog in de garantieperiode.

Is dit een issue dat makkelijk zelf op te lossen met deze GPU is of is het aan te raden om het op te sturen? Reden dat ik dit vraag is dat ik het apparaat veel gebruik en bij opsturen waarschijnlijk aanzienlijke tijd kwijt ben. Als het moet moet het, maar liever niet.

Kan je eens foto's plaatsen van hoe je PC eruit ziet?

En kan je eens wat meer info geven van de overige hardware? Denk hierbij aan de voeding, overige hardware die erop aangesloten zit, koeler, eventueel extra fans, harde schijven/ssd.

Hopelijk kunnen we daar een beter beeld van het probleem en oorzaak.

Als ik dit zo lees is het niet eenvoudig. Alleen al omdat het verwijderen van "liquid metal" geen sinecure is.

If you wish to disassemble minisforum HX80G (GUIDE)

I opened up the HX80G to apply some ptm7950 to improve the temperatures on the GPU (and surprisingly CPU). I figured I would write a step by step guide on how to disassemble this unit since there is very little information online on how to do so.
Steps:

First you should know that the process is not very friendly, and while I did it successfully even though I am not an expert, I do not encourage doing it if you are a beginner and there is a risk of breaking your mini pc.

1) Remove the two rubber strips covering the screws from the side and remove the four screws holding on the side panel. Remove the side panel helping yourself with a plastic spudger or credit card-like material

2) Remove the four screws holding the PCB brace and remove the PCB brace panel

3) Detach and remove the Wi-Fi card (detach the two cables from the wifi card), nvme drives, and RAM. One of the two cables of the wifi card should be taped to the motherboard. Gently lift the tape so that the cable can move freely.

4) Remove the four brass hex standoffs that are holding down the motherboard. You will need the right screwdriver/tool for this.

5) Remove the motherboard. This is one of the harder parts because the motherboard is tightly placed inside the case. You should eventually be able to pull it out. Pay attention to the large ribbon cable attached to the case and don't break it while removing the motherboard. "Flip" the motherboard to the side and finally detach the cable with your fingertip.

6) Disconnect and remove the fans. There are two fans, each their own white connector. Gently pull the connector up, from the base. Remember the original position of the fans. Each fan has 3 phillips screws and you will need a thin screwdriver to unscrew those.

7) Prepare a towel on flat table and lay the heatsink assemblies face down on the towel.

Remove the screws from the back side of motherboard. Should be 8 screws in total.

9) Separate heatsink and motherboard. They are hard to separate because they are kind of stuck together near the CPU and GPU. I recommend heating the surface near the CPU from the side of the motherboard for a couple of minutes with an hairdryer, and then use some strenght to carefully separate the two without breaking anything. Know that once you open this up, you will most likely break the protection layer of the liquid metal, so now it's basically mandatory to change the thermal compound.

Now you will have to remove all (I repeat all) traces of liquid metal. It will take you at least a couple of hours. Look up liquid metal on youtube to understand how to remove it and what happens if you don't clean it off properly. Then you will have to apply some thermal paste or something similar. I applied ptm7950 and it did the job, but you could use some high performance thermal paste too I guess.

Finally you have to follow the steps backwards to reassemble the unit. I hope this guide will be useful to some of you.
