CPU clock speed issue

**Hi everyone,**

I'm having an issue with my CPU frequency dropping when launching games. Let me explain in detail:

Everything was working fine a couple of days ago, but today I noticed that when I launch games (for example, CS2), my CPU frequency immediately drops to around **2 GHz**, and I get really low FPS. It feels like the CPU is throttling for no clear reason.

**Here’s what I’ve checked and tried so far:**

1. **Temperatures are fine** – no overheating. I’ve checked with HWMonitor and in the BIOS.
2. **It’s not the GPU or any other component** – I’m confident this is a motherboard-related issue.
3. **BIOS settings** – I’ve tried everything I could think of, even with help from ChatGPT: reset to defaults, played with PBO, voltages, etc. Nothing worked.
4. **BIOS updates** – I’ve tried both the latest version and rolled back to older ones. No change.
5. **Power supply seems OK** – I’m using a 550W PSU, and there are no restarts or crashes.

**My setup:**

* Motherboard: ASRock B650M-H/M.2+
* CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
* RAM: 64GB DDR5 6400 MHz (Hynix A-die)
* PSU: 550W

**Question:**
What else should I check? Has anyone experienced similar behavior with this board or CPU? Are there any specific BIOS options on ASRock boards that might cause the CPU to lock to low frequencies under load?

I checked all the components in the test and everything works without problems and I also have another motherboard in which I installed the CPU and there was no such problem. I checked all the components and only the motherboard remains. There can be no other.

Welke videokaart? Jij vindt het niet relevant maar dat is niet aan jou om te beoordelen als je ons een vraag stelt

Welke voeding is het precies? 550W Chinesium troep kan soms maar 250W stabiel leveren en is dus ook relevant.

Hoewel het een low end bord is, is een 7600X alles behalve problematisch voor de VRM.
Dus het hoeft niet per definitie aan het bord te liggen. Gezien het probleem niet met de processor is meeverhuisd zegt alleen dat je processor zelf het probleem iig niet is.

Heb je ook al je andere componenten op dat andere bord aangesloten met dezelfde combinatie en dat ook getest met CS2?

On the second PC I tested the video card, RAM and processor and also the power supply. They work flawlessly.
On the second computer I have a lian li 850vwatt gold and a b850 aorus motherboard
RTX 3070 GAMEROCK
SHARKOON 600W BRONZE (not the best but Im sure its full good and have no problem)
KingBank 64GB 6400Mhz CL32

Die Sharkoon kun je zo in het vuilnis flikkeren. Sowieso is 600W met maar bronze een teken aan de wand dat het ding alleen bestaat om goedkoop te zijn. Totaal ongeschikt voor het voeden van videokaarten met hoge stroompieken zoals de RTX3000/4000/5000 en AMD equivalenten.

Maar los daarvan heb je dus elk component al getest en bevonden dat alleen met het B650 bord je probleem optreedt. Mijns inziens ben je dan redelijk in de aanname dat het bord het probleem is. RMA aanmaken dus en terugsturen. Vermoedelijk een verrotte VRM waardoor je processor geknepen wordt.
