Need a new GPU> uncertain what to go for.

Hi,

Im looking to buy a new GPU, as my old one has died, im a casual Gamer, and i play mostly on 1440p.
things like Diablo/Elden ring are my main focus for when it comes to gaming.

My budget, would be around 6-700 Euro.

the components i currently have in my pc are:
CPU Intel Core i7 9700K
16GB RAM(should upgrade this might look into that together with the GPU)
MB: Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z390 GAMING X
GPU: ???? had a 2070, thinking of a 3070 but hesitating because of the talk about VRAM for future games.

For €700, you can choose between the RTX 4070 and the RX 6950 XT new.

The RX 6950 is the best last gen card from AMD. It performs very well in AAA games and has 16GB of VRAM. The RX 7900 XT would be the next step up with noticable uplifts in performance, but that is a newer generation and will go over your budget.

The RTX 4070 is a current gen card from Nvidia. Of course some of us will prefer Nvidia. Current Geforce cards have support for a few handy features like DLSS3. It has the performance of around a 3080 and has 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM.

The RX 6950XT is more powerful in gaming than the RTX 4070, especially at higher resolutions. The Nvidia cards are masters at efficiency.

16GB RAM is sufficient for most games, but 32GB is ideal to play recent AAA games.
