This may sound odd, but below is the best way I could find to identify if the car has a heat pump or not. According to the wiring diagrams, the connector shown below is different depending on heat pump or not. Luckily, it is visible without removing any parts from the car.
- The NO HEAT PUMP version has 3 wires, black, blue and orange. I can confirm this with the images below of my Hi5 in Singapore where we do not need the heat pump. My VIN details also indicate no heat pump. The connector shape and wire colors match the wiring diagram for no heat pump.
- The WITH HEAT PUMP version has 4 wires, including the above plus a PINK one. The connector is also in 2x2 configuration instead of 3x1.
