In de software updates van vim staat steeds

Vim wordt niet actief ontwikkeld

Waarom niet? Molenaar freubelt bijna dagelijks een patch-versie in elkaar. De commit-history is juist bomvol.

Dat major versies wat langer duren doet IMO niet af aan de ontwikkelactiviteit;
met die logica kan je ook stellen dat MS Windows niet actief wordt ontwikkeld.

Ik vermoed dat met "Actieve ontwikkeling" bedoeld wordt dat er nieuwe features worden ontwikkeld.
In de commit log zien we alleen patches, een geen nieuwe features.

Vim 8.2 is grofweg 2,5 jaar geleden; dat valt nog wel aardig mee.
Bovendien suggereert het (IMO) dat Vim abandonware is.

Naar mijn mening is Vim een beetje uitontwikkeld en als er meerdere jaren tussen (release-)versies zit, dan noem ik dan niet erg actief.

Ik las vandaag in de vim groep de mededeling dat Bram is overleden.
Hij is 62 geworden en was net met pensioen gegaan.

Dear all,

It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that Bram Moolenaar passed away on 3 August 2023.
Bram was suffering from a medical condition that progressed quickly over the last few weeks.

Bram dedicated a large part of his life to VIM and he was very proud of the VIM community that you are all part of.

We as family are now arranging the funeral service of Bram which will take place in The Netherlands and will be held in the Dutch lanuage. The extact date, time and place are still to be determined.
