Al een tijdje ben ik wat mediabestanden aan het omzetten naar HEVC/H265 om ruimte te besparen zonder al teveel kwaliteit in te leveren. it doe ik met Handbrake.
Voor DVD's uit mijn DVD collectie merk ik dat door het SD formaat erg kleine bestanden ontstaan, maar bij een blu-ray valt me op dat er soms nagenoeg geen verschil zit tussen H264 of H265. Hier kwam ik per toeval achter omdat ik eens tussendoor wilde weten wat een blu-ray deed in H264 en H265.
Als voorbeeld dit bestand, is een aflevering van een serie:
Heb even een hoop ondertitelingen er tussenuit gehaald, om het in te korten.
H265:
H264
Origineel: 6,46GB
Output is 1080P naar 720P
H265: 1,13GB - omzetten duurde bijna 3 uur.
H64: 1,13GB - omzetten duurde 45 minuten.
Kijk ik naar het aantal KB/s dan zie ik dat in H265 het bestand ongeveer 100MB kleiner is.
Ik heb nog niet het verschil in kwaliteit bekeken, maar zit mezelf wel af te vragen waarom ik dan alles naar H265 omzet. H264 werkt beter op veel apparaten. Voor mij is de afweging een goede kwaliteit in ee zo'n klein mogelijke bestandsgrootte.
Zijn anderen er wel eens tegenaan gelopen dat er soms geen groot verscil in bestandsgrootte zit?
Ik ga eens verder testen met een film.
