Bootable USB windows does not work, but linux does

My computer does not boot into windows anymore after an update (i thought)

It just shows a black screen after the windows logo.


So i tried using a windows bootable USB to restore it, but it does not boot.
It's the same it shows the windows logo and then goes to a black screen.

I tested the bootle USB and it works on other computers.


Then i went and installed linux on a USB drive and tried it and that works like a charm

It boots into linux, I can see my harddrive and my files.
So at least I have my data.

But i also want windows to work on this machine....

Any ideas?

Could you please post the specs / a link to the specs?

Did you already try to reinstall a fresh version of windows?

Did you try to update the GPU drivers?

How did you create the USB drive, with the Media Creation Tool I presume?
You sure it is booting from the thumbdrive, i.e. does the thumbdrive have a LED wich flashes while loading the setup files?

You could also do a memory (RAM) test with Memtest86+ to make sure that's ok.

Try to boot into safe mode ( keep pressing F8 during boot / just before windows start ). If you can, try to run 'netplwiz' in start > run and check if you can (recreate) a user there.

Ik geraak niet in safe mode (F8) lijkt niet te werken volgens verschillende fora in de laatste updates van w10.....

Vandaar dat ik met een bootable USB aan het proberen ben

Probeer die stick toch eens te maken met het tooltje van MS. Misschien gaat er wat mis bij Rufus; partitie / MBR / UEFI of iets in die geest...

Waarschijnlijk dan BIOS/UEFI verschil in instellingen op de computers.

Geprobeerd met de officiële MS tool.

Ik zie het Windows logo en de dotted waiting circle onde het Windows logo, maar verder gaat hij niet.....

Het enige verschil dat ik hier zie met de Rufus is dat die van Rufus na dit scherm naar een zwart scherm ging en deze blijft gewoon op het logo scherm staan (de puntjes bewegen wel nog altijd, dus hij is niet vast gelopen).....

Probleem met de disk?
Test eens of je wel kan booten zonder aangesloten HDD/SSD of andere extra rand-apparatuur.

Booten naar een Linux USB kan ik perfect
En dan kan ik zelfs de files openen op de SSD...

Alleen Windows booten likt niet.

Als ik de Windows op de SSD wil booten dan gaat hij in recovery mode maar ook hier krijg ik na een tijdje gewoon een zwart scherm...


De pc is zo een all in one scherm waar ik niet direct vijzen zie aan de achterkant, dus moeilijk om hem open te doen zonder enige zichtbare schade vrees ik.

Daarom dacht ik te booten van een Windows USB en zo een system Restore te doen.
Of in het slechtste geval booten in Linux files kopiëren op een externe disk en dan Windows opnieuw installeren.
Alleen krijg ik ook niet de Windows install USB geboot...

Alleen een Linux USB. Echt vreemd

OK, dat maakt het een stuk lastiger natuurlijk.
Welke AIO is het dan precies?
Dan maar met Linux of WINPE eens HDD diagnose/test doen?.
Hiren’s BootCD PE, Sergei Strelec WinPE
Eventueel nog image backup maken en HDD wissen?

Is het heel raar dat ik me afvraag waarom je dit topic in het Engels begint. Vervolgens reageer je verderop wel in het Nederlands. Dus mijn verzoek om het vervolgens bij het Nederlands te houden :-)
