Problemen met verzenden mail met Thunderbird

Soms komt mail niet aan met verzenden vanuit Mozilla Thunderbird
Soms ook geen notificatie (bounced email)
Ik gebruik een hotmail account en een account van mijn hosting provider met Thunderbird.
Daar het met webmail (via browser) wel lukt en met Thunderbird niet vermoed ik dat daar het probleem ligt.

Naar mijn idee zijn dat 2 dingen, waar Thunderbird niets aan kan doen.
Je stelt een SMTP server in voor het versturen van je email.
Als Thunderbird niet succesvol met de SMTP server kan praten, krijg je wel een melding.
Daarna, kan Thunderbird hier niets meer aan doen.
