Tekenprogramma voor pallets gezocht

Voor een klant ben ik op zoek naar een tekenprogramma voor pallets. De klant zelf maakt pallets en maakt daar ontwerpen voor. Deze ontwerpen gaan als tekening naar potentiele klanten en worden ook intern gebruikt. Op dit moment tot aan dit moment gebruikten ze Cap3D maar dat leunt zwaar op Flash en dat werkt nu dus niet meer.



De leverancier van Cap3D heeft daar overigens al voor gewaarschuwd, maar ondersteunt het pakket al een tijdje niet meer en heeft ook geen opvolger (bijzonder is dan wel weer dat je het nog steeds kan kopen. Tip: doe het niet).

Vandaar dus mijn vraag: we zijn op zoek naar een vervangend pakket. AutoCad is veel te zwaar, Paint.net te algemeen, op maat laten maken wordt waarschijnlijk te duur. Een ideaal tekenprogramma zou er een zijn waarmee je - met een klant aan de telefoon - in een paar minuten een simpele tekening kan maken om die even later als plaatje op te sturen. Om dan vervolgens na het telefoongesprek een uitgebreide versie te maken met alle planken, balken, spijkers, naden, oversteken en stempels op de goede plek. En idealiter die specificaties weer in te lezen in het productiesysteem

Maar goed, als we eerst maar weer eens kunnen tekenen. Nu doen ze het als tussenoplossing in Powerpoint.....

Ik benoemd trouwens wel Sketchup, dat is zeker een upgrade tov powerpoint. Maar het is geen specifiek programma voor pallets en BOM's (bill of materials). Dus dan kom je waarschijnlijk uit op specifiekere software. Ik vond online wel een paar, maar daar heb ik dan weer geen ervaring mee:

Mogelijk een Flash alternatief als Ruffle https://ruffle.rs, was pas ook een nieuws artikel over nieuws: Newgrounds werkt aan emulator voor Flash-content .

Ruffle is a Flash Player emulator written in Rust. Ruffle runs natively on all modern operating systems as a standalone application, and on all modern browsers through the use of WebAssembly.

Ik weet niet of het zou kunnen werken.

Je kan in openscad (cad pakket volledig gebaseerd op een "programmeertaal") je eigen script maken, maar ik weet niet hoe makkelijk je daar een interface aan kan hangen.

Waarom werkt Flash niet meer? De meest voor de hand liggende oplossing lijkt mij om het programma in een virtuele machine te draaien. Het programma lijkt me specifiek voor pallets en zal dus waarschijnlijk veel makkelijker werken dan een generieke 3D editor. Als het wat extra moeite kost met een VM is dat waarschijnlijk wel waard omdat je veel sneller het gewenste resultaat hebt.

@vDorst emulatie is hooguit uitstel (het pakket wordt ook al jaren niet onderhouden)

Het feit dat Adobe geen updates levert betekent niet dat het plotseling onmogelijk is de software nog te gebruiken. Adobe is dan niet meer verantwoordelijk voor security patches maar er zijn allerlei manieren waarop je de software alsnog kan draaien en sandboxen om problemen met veiligheid compatibiliteit te omzeilen.

dan werkt het CAP3D

Klinkt als een workaround, ik heb een lijst doorgestuurd met alternatieven. Daar wordt nu naar gekeken. Dat Cap3D wordt sowieso niet vaak geüpdate en is al een oud ding. Misschien ook wel tijd voor wat nieuws

Dear Customer,
following the unilateral decision by Adobe Systems Inc. that we notified in the previous e-mail (attached below for reference), we have unfortunately received reports about Cap3D being unable to load or work properly.


CLARIFICATION
At CaP3D we value transparence and we felt the need to clarify the succession of events.
Adobe Systems Inc. stated as early as July 2017 that support and update for the Flash Player component would be suspended at the end of 2020. Cap3D uses a version of Flash Player that is installed on the local computer during the installation process of Cap3D itself and this local component doesn’t need updates to properly work. All previously performed tests confirmed that Cap3D could work properly even if Flash Player had not been updated, thus after the suspension of support and update by Adobe Systems Inc.

At the end of 2020 though, when the latest update of Flash Player was released and without any further technical specification, came the official statement that not only would Adobe Systems Inc. suspend the support and update of the Flash Player component, but the playback of all legacy contents, even those by third parties would also be blocked. The impact impact on millions of websites and applications is obvious. Gruppo 36, like other companies around the world, has therefore been on the wrong end of the side effects of this unilateral decision by Adobe Systems Inc..

The Flash Player component in the version of Cap3D currently distributed, is at the core of the Graphic Interface of our software. Therefore replacing the component is almost impossible, as it would require the complete refactoring of the Cap3D software.
Gruppo 36 has been working for some time now on a new version of Cap3D that will be released as soon as possible. The release date of the new version which as stated requires a full refactoring of the software is however still not defined.

Gruppo 36 will offer a special promotion to all customers who will want to renew their trust in us by subscribing to the new version of Cap3D when it will be released to the market.

It is important to note that we are working to ensure that the files of the drawings created with the current release of Cap3D will be importable and reusable with the new version when it will be available.

POSSIBILE TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS
Our team managed to find some possible temporary solutions that will allow you to continue to use Cap3D:

1) Change the year on your Cap3D PC
Change the year through the PC date/time settings, bringing it back one year (2021 to 2020). In this case, you will need to request the re-submission of a new license file.
Also, moving the date back a year on your PC, may result in other softwares not working properly.

If you want to proceed with this solution, you will need to communicate it to [e-mail] so that the Team can take in charge the request and contact you by providing the new license file.

2) Use Windows 7
Windows 7 was not affected by this issue and you can therefore use Cap3D on this operating system. You can use it either with a physical installation of Windows 7 on your PC, or through the use of a virtual machine that loads Windows 7 on your PC.

In this case, you need a new license. Those who want to proceed with this solution, will have to communicate it to [e-mail]

3) Windows 10: install a new version without updates
Install a new version of Windows 10 on a PC, disconnecting from the internet and/or disabling automatic updates to avoid any updates that cause the anomaly.

Ik kom uit deze sector. Als het een serieus bedrijf is en het mag ook wat kosten kun je het pakket overwegen wat door de pallet brancheorganisatie wordt gebruikt. Kost wat, maar is erg goed en uitgebreid, incl sterkte berekeningen e.d.

Er zijn hier al enkele voorbeelden genoemd. Wat adviseer je als je uit de branche komt?

Wat is goed, compatibel en universeel?
wat kan CAD/DWG exports maken zodat andere bedrijven ze ook kunnen openen/bewerken/aanpassen?

Ben zelf ook op zoek naar een dergelijke software. Wilt de topicmaker en The_Zohan wellicht nog reageren op dit topic? Zou mij heel erg helpen! Ben benieuwd voor welke software uiteindelijk gekozen is en welk programma The_Zohan het over had.
