There is already luck of supplies, and it will get worse, and some of it can be printed. And organised group of volunteers can make a difference.

There are number of open source designs for a lot of things available and more of them are coming. There are even ongoing open source projects which aim at low cost and easy to manufacture medical ventilators, which is the most critical thing now to save lives. Also, there will be (and already) need for spare parts etc, some of them can be printed.
