Hi all, If any knows how or can offer insight, please feel free!
At this moment we have a network printer connected over wire to the router, an Apple airport (little bit outdated, but bit works fine). So the printer is connected onto the private, home network. Our router also provides guest WiFi. A lot of costumers want to print something directly from their smartphone, so we’re looking at possibilities to allow them on the guest network and print from their smartphone, while also still letting it print from the home network.
I’ve thought up 2 possible solutions, but if there is a simpler one, share
1. Connect the printer via usb to the router, not easy as they are physically more than 2m apart. I don’t know if this is viable, as I’m not sure that the router can let it print over usb from the two networks.
2.Build a raspberry pi with WiFi dongle and connect it via usb to the printer, and connect the raspberry pi on the guest network. Printer would still be connected via network wire to the home network.
Can someone help? Thank you!
