@Olaf: Zoals @deregtx ook al terecht opmerkt, is uw volgende bewering zeer, maar dan ook zeer onwaarschijnlijk:
Ed (belangrijk) - AMD zelf beweert dat het om 14nm gaat (!), zie onderaan dit bericht.
De mobiele Athlon 3000-processors zijn nog op de eerste Zen-architectuur gebaseerd en waarschijnlijk dan ook nog op TSMC's 12nm-productieprocedé gebaseerd.
Officiele beurs-informatie die aangeeft dat het om GloFo gaat, vindt u o.a. terug in de 10-Q filing van Q2 '19, onder "NOTE 2. GLOBALFOUNDRIES", ik citeer:
"...In March 2009, the Company and GLOBALFOUNDRIES Inc. (GF) entered into a Wafer Supply Agreement (the WSA) ...On January 28, 2019, the Company entered into a seventh amendment.... applicable to wafer purchases at the 12 nm technology node and above by theCompany for the period commencing on January 1, 2019 and continuing through March 1, 2024. ... Further, the Company and GF agreed to modify the annual wafer purchase targets previously agreed to for years 2019 and 2020. ... The Company expects that its future purchases from GF will bematerial under the WSA, which is in place until March 1, 2024. ...
... The Company’s total purchases from GF ...were $383 million and $781 million,respectively. Included in the total purchases ... were amounts related to the volume of certain wafers purchased from another wafer foundry, as agreed by the Company and GF"
Conclusie is, dat er een substantieel aantal wafers >=12nm bij GloFo dient afgenomen te worden door AMD, en uit de laatste regel blijkt zelfs, dat er een soort 'boete / genoegdoening' wordt betaald, voor bepaalde wafers die bij 'een andere leverancier' besteld worden (lijkt me TSMC).
Ed - Op AMD's productpagina staat letterlijk: "CMOS: 14nm". Dat zou dan dus gaan over het 14nm-SoC proces ontworpen door Samsung (voor smartphones), in licentie genomen en dus ook voor AMD geproduceerd door GloFo, omdat GloFo destijds hun eigen 14nm proces niet werkend kreeg.
Ed2 - Nog wat verder nagezocht, cTDP van GloFo 14nm gaat van 12-25W, die van GloFo 12nm gaat van 12-35W.
