AMD introduceert Threadripper 3960X en 3970X met 24 en 32 cores

"De theoretische maximale geheugenhoeveelheid is 2TB."
Daar gaat iets mis, er is geen RDIMM support en maximaal 2 DIMMs per channel, dus momenteel is het maximum 8*32GB of te wel 256GB.
Dit is ook wat alle moederbord fabrikanten aangeven.

The TRX4 will have quad-channel memory. With support for two UDIMMs per channel and 128 GB per UDIMM, that’s an impressive max of 1 TB. For I/O it will support 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes, of which 16 can be switched to SATA.

The WRX8 will have eight memory channels channels for up to 2 TB of DDR-3200 RAM and between 96 and 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, with 32 switchable to SATA.

En 128GB UDIMM is er nog helemaal niet, we hebben pas sinds kort 32GB UDIMM.

Dat het in de praktijk (nog) niet bestaat betekent toch niet dat het dan theoretisch gezien niet klopt?

Zelfs theoretisch is het niet correct (dit gaat over de TRX4, alleen de WRX8 zou het theoretisch hebben) en een theoretisch maximum wat 4-8x boven de werkelijkheid ligt is best misleidend.

@|sWORDs| Excuses voor de late reactie. Ik heb het zinnetje over de theoretische capaciteit weggehaald; is niet helemaal correct inderdaad. Moederbordfabrikanten noemen max 256GB omdat dit nu de praktisch haalbare max is. De cpu's zijn niet gelimiteerd op 256GB, dat wou ik aangeven.
