Dit suggereert dat de X7 als 8.1 in plaats van de eerde gespeculeerde 7.1 Plus door het leven gaat. Echter heeft NPU zijn eigen bericht alweer ontkracht. Het claimt nu dat de 8.1 en 7.1 Plus vermoedelijk alsnog twee verschillende telefoons zijn:

Now, coming to some recent cover listings on Amazon sent to us by one of our tipsters, it seems Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 7.1 Plus and are two different smartphones. Nokia 8.1 is claimed to have a 5.6-inch display and may sport a Nokia 7.1 like design.

Nokia 7.1 Plus however is similar to Nokia X7 in design is claimed to have a 6.18-inch display. In fact the description clearly requests buyers to check their device, as it is only meant for Nokia 7.1 Plus.

Misschien lees ik het verkeerd maar volgens mij bedoelen ze dat het bericht over de hoesjes die zouden wijzen op twee toestellen (Nokia 8.1 met 5,6"-scherm en Nokia 7.1 Plus met 6,18") niet klopt en hun daarna gepubliceerde artikel over de 8.1 met 6,18"-scherm wel. Zo interpreteer ik
