NUC6CAYH CPU Thermal Trip

Mijn vraag
Mijn (of eigenlijk oma's) nieuwe NUC6CAYH boot 9/10 keer niet en gaat dan 16 keer knipperen. Die ene keer dat het wel lukt zegt hij eerst "WARNING: Processor Thermal Trip". Hij wordt helemaal niet heet ofzo. Kan ik dit oplossen of moet ik hem terugsturen?

Wat ik al gevonden of geprobeerd heb
Ik had deze pagina gevonden die zegt dat ik moet controleren of er niks voor de ventilatiegaten zit, maar dat lijkt mij niet het geval, want hij staat los op een stoel.

Je zou kunnen kijken of er een nieuwe BIOS versie is en of alle drivers up-to-date zijn:

Ik had al de laatste BIOS geïnstalleerd, maar dat heeft niet geholpen. Ik gebruik trouwens Debian GNU/Linux Jessie, maar dat is niet relevant, want dit gebeurd al voordat het überhaupt mijn bootloader (GRUB) laadt.

Schijnt een vaker voorkomend issue te zijn bij dit type NUC, als ik de reviewer van het volgende artikel zou moeten geloven. Een zoektocht via Google lijkt dat ook te bevestigen.

First the nuc does not boot reliably, its temperamental and it boots maybe 7/10 times or less. Sometimes you get weird alarms and other errors and it just sits there. There are frequent ‘thermal trip errors’ that prevents boot and needs intervention via pressing the enter key. This is a known issue affecting tons of people on intel nuc forums in spite of replacing multiple nucs without any resolution and multiple bios updates have not solved it.

Dat is jammer. Ik heb nu dus een RMA gedaan bij de webshop waar ik het gekocht heb en moet dus nog maar gaan zien wat zij ervan zeggen.

reactie op intel communities:
I looked in the bios settings for the fan and observed that the 3 temperature points look awkward:
- critical temp 88 degrees
- control temp: 80 degrees
- full fan temp: 88 degrees

It looked to me that full cooling only kicks in when critical temperature is reached (too late), so I changed the temps to:
- critical 88 (the same)
- control point: 68
- all on: 78

Now the thermal trip did not occur during the last 10 reboots.

Misschien deze bios settings eens proberen? Andere NUC maar kan werken. Lijkt erop dat de koeling te laat vol aan gaat en zo de critical temp triggert.
