360 Total Security - waarom nog updates?

Ik vind het een slechte zaak dat Tweakers nog software-updates plaatst voor 360 Total Security. Keer op keer wordt gemeld dat dit bedrijf weinig goeds doet:

Of het programma "prima zijn werk" doet zoals het artikel stelt is lastig vast te stellen gezien ze door vrijwel alle bekende antivirus-test-sites zijn verbannen wegens fraude bij eerdere testen waardoor de resultaten onterecht gunstig werden beinvloed voor Qihu 360.

Gezien de, op zijn minst twijfelachtig te noemen, reputatie van deze leverancier zou ik dit product absoluut links laten liggen! Het verdienmodel achter deze gratis scanner is onduidelijk en de reputatie van de producent slecht.

Een veel gehoord argument is dat de scanner ook 3rd party engines gebruikt en dus betrouwbare resultaten moet leveren; bedenk je goed dat de 3rd party engines alleen bij on demand scanning worden gebruikt (niet bij on access) en dat de definities hierbij vaak minimaal een dag (tot langer) achterlopen.

Lang verhaal met veel linkjes, maar ik zie informatie uit: December 2011, April 2013, October 2014. Hoe relevant is dat allemaal nog? Ik had het op tot begin dit jaar op verschillende computers draaien en ik vond het een licht product die het prima deed en geen vervelende popups had, wat je vaak bij gratis anti-virus software hebt. Maar goed, ik zal het voortaan overslaan.

ik draai al zeker 4 jaar met 360 total security en nog nooit enig probleem van welke soort dan ook gehad. Heeft al gedraaid onder win7, win 8 en win8.1. Blijft er dus lekker op staan.
