Hi,

I have a stange problem with a V550. After installing directx 7 most games (like driver) give me a blinking screen. How can i de-install direct x 7 to replace direct x 6.1 ????

re-installing an older version of DX usually works for me.
Personally I hate it..you install a game with an old version of DX and the newer DX is overwritten .
Maybe new videocard drivers can help too.
Try the new 3.66 drivers from Nvidia for instance.

I had the same problem with my old V550 , when using older drivers FIFA 2K gave me blinking screens , using newer drivers other games did including Driver . Solution : install the Reference driver version 2.08 from Nvidia and everything ran smooth .

With 2.08ref. from Nvidia, my Viper550 and DX7 runs smoothly...under win98.

You can Flash the BIOS(Viper) with a newer one, I did, and you can see the difference.

will solve your problem and it is true enough to say that even microsoft suggest you reinstall windows to get rid of DirectX 7.0 because it changes so many system settings.
It is NOT possible to de-install directX 7.0

Ja, hallo het probleem is dus niet Dx7 maar de drivers . Met 3.53 gaan Driver en andere spellen gewoon weer het beeld verneuken .

I've got some new ideas. Most of the hints have been tried already (latest flash-bios, latest Nvidia drivers 3.53 detonator).
I really believe that the problem started after installing directX 7. I will try to install DirectX 6 once again, but I don''t think this will work (without format c: ofcourse!!).

why 3.53 the newest driver from nvidia is 3.68 but thats a beta and is slower so i should download 3.66. (i have a viper 550 my own)

don't use drivers from diamond, they suck, use nvidia drivers, www.nvidia.com
