Since this morning I'm having a really annoying issue. I have a rig with an GTX1070 connected to a 21:9 ultra wide display (3440x1440, 60Hz) via displayport. I used to be able to turn my monitor settings in the correct way so I'd have an overall refresh rate of 60Hz. Everything was just fine until I updated windows 10. After rebooting the computer I noticed that my display was running on 30Hz (3440x1440) again.
Well, no big deal, is what I thought. So I went into the Nvidia Configuration Screen and made an adaptive resolution with a refresh rate of 60Hz (this is what I always do when these kind of problems occur). But sadly enough, this doesn't work.
After changing it to 60Hz and click on 'test' the screen goes black and I get a message from the monitor saying 'no video input' followed by 'entering sleep mode'. Literally nothing works (i.e. rebooting the computer, trying another displayport cable, trying different inputs on my GPU, pressing F12/F8 or shift F8).
So I ended up using an HDMI cable, which strangley enough, did bring me in the system, and now I'm stuck with a refresrate of 30Hz. As soon as I make an adaptive resolution in the Nvidia configuration screen (ofcourse with ,my DP cable inserted) an test it, it goes black and does nothing. I also checked the refresh rate in the windows display settings but that doesn't even give me the choice to change it to 60Hz in the first place.
I tried to reinstall the drivers but unfortunately to no avail....
I also tried to change the resolution to 2560x1080 @ 60Hz. It does pass the test and it says that the screen resolution is changed to those settings but they don't, because as soon as I go back it's still set at 3440x1440 @ 30Hz....
If anyone has this problem and/or knows how to fix it I will be forever gratefull. I really don't want to be stuck on this 30Hz, might as well buy a console then haha:p
