How to use the AMI FLASH Utility
This utility is used to program a new BIOS into a Flash memory. You have to
make sure first that the BIOS installed in your mainboard is Flash memory,
and not EPROM.

1. Turn on your computer.
2. Boot up clean, bypassing your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files.
3. Then, run the AMI FLASH UTILITY file.
DRIVE:\>AMI_FLASH UTILITY_FILE BIOS_FILE EX: C:\>AMIFL530 A37A.ROM

The programming screen will be shown. At the bottom of the screen, the following message will appear:

Press "Y" to Continue, "N" to Reboot
Press "N" if you do not want to continue programming the new BIOS.
Press "Y" if you want to continue programming the new BIOS. The new BIOS will then be programmed. When it has finished programming, the following
message will appear:
Flash EPROM Program Successful. Press Any Key to Reboot.

You have successfully programmed the new BIOS.

Ik heb mijn bios nog nooit geflashed dus hoe moet het nou precies, want ik vind dit niet echt duidelijk, in DOS of in Windows98se en wat

wil dit eigenlijk zeggen?

Boot clean wil zeggen in DOS mode, druk tijdens starten op F8 en kies dan voor de optie safe command prompt.

Druk gewoon een paar keer op F8 na het zien van het menu'tje waar alle randapparten in vermeldt staan (IDE apparaten, processor, geheugen etc.)

in windows Me lukt dat dus niet met F8
echte Dos kom je alleen maar in met Win98 diskette

Maar dan stuit ik op deze regel. (Ik vraag het elke keer voor de zekerheid want ik ben bang dat er iets mis gaat.)

Precies doen wat er staat.

Dus:

Het woord "drive" heb ik vervangen door de letter van de floppydrive. Maar ik zou eerst proberen wat er staat, waarbij moet worden opgemerkt dat het *.rom bestandje wel in de C:\ moet staan, anders werkt het niet.

Is het zo duidelijk? Helaas heb ik zelf geen Ami bios, dus ik weet er niet veel vanaf. Een paar keer goed doorlezen, maakt vaak veel meer duidelijk.

Ik heb het geprobeert. De compu zegt dat die versie niet goed is voor het systeem, terwijl ik hem gewoon van de msi site heb gewdownload, voor mijn ms6163va, in de handleiding die erbij gezipt is staat dat, wf73.bin moet gebruiken alleen die zit niet gezipt. Het is trouwens (sorry) een award bios. Kan iemand kijken welke versie ik dan moet nemen want ik zit echt vast.

funksngrooves,ik heb even gekeken naar dat tekstbestandje. Het lijkt mij makkelijker als je bij een Award bios een Award flashproggie gebruikt en geen Ami flashproggie bij een Award bios!
Het kan volgens MSI wel, maar ik zou het niet doen.

After saving the old BIOS, the following message will appear at the bottom of the screen:

Are you sure to program (Y/N)?

Press "N" if you do not want to program the new BIOS.

Press "Y" if you want to continue programming the new BIOS. The new BIOS will then be programmed. When it has finished programming, the following message will appear:

Flash EPROM Program Successful.

You have successfully programmed the new BIOS.

Tip: * gebruik de juiste bios! Voor jouw staat deze onderaan de pagina, geloof ik. Er staan nl. 2 verschillende versies van de MS-6163.
