Hi all,

I left the netherlands 4 months ago for an extended holiday. I cancelled my Simyo account before leaving as I of course wanted to save 4 months of subscription payments. However, I am back now and thought I could simply re activate my account and get the same number. After my phone call to their customer service it seems that this is impossible.

I just wanted to ask if anyone knew of any way to get the same phone number back that I had before. As my life is tied to that specific number, including my online banking with ING etc etc. I also need it for whatsapp or is there a way to link my old whatsapp number to a new one???

Thanks for any help you can provide.

It isn't possible to get your old number back. Your old number is in a kind of quarantine so it can be reused in about a year. For now you have to take a new number and change it @ ING etc.

To be honest I think you're out of luck. If i recall correctly a mobile phone number gets frozen for a certain amount of time after it is not used anymore (so when you cancel your contract without choosing to transfer the number). After which it gets released back into circulation. For as far is know you don't have the option to choose your own number.

Correct. The number will not be avaiable for you or anyone at this moment. A good lesson for the future. When you are out of the country for a longer period, transfer your number to a prepaid subscription. Then you will be able to keep your number.
