Hi all,

Sorry this is in English...Bought myself a 50j6200 and was quite pleased with it. Now I notice that during dark scenes, the backlighting in the corners is crazy bright. During movies and games, if there are the black bars then I can notice it a little. When there is an all black screen like the logos at the start/end of the movie then it's very obvious. I did a firmware update, unplugged/plugged in, factory reset but it's all the same. I am watching in the dark and know edge lit is not perfect but the tv has good reviews for "blacker than black".

With the camera, it is a little brighter than what I see with my eyes but still visible! Do you think it's worth all the hassle to return etc? Or if this is something 'normal' with these thin edge lit tv's. I used to have a 48h5550 and did not notice this problem.

Any suggestions?! :| :-(

Thanks!

Looks a bit on the extreme side but what's your backlight setting? You could also try the 'massage' trick http://www.avsforum.com/f...onitors-w-disclaimer.html (with a microfiber cloth not fingers or hand. Notice it's a very old topic but the method (/similar methods) has been brought up over the years and has done wonders on many screens. You could probably find some more recent better instructions or perhaps later on in the same thread)

But if you're still in your return period you're unlikely to get a worse one back :D (but if it has been in use too much for a return and has to be sent for repair you might as well try the massage trick first; rubbing not tapping)

Hi apis29,

Thanks for your response. The backlight setting was 18/20, reduced to 8/20 still had some visible backlighting. Just before your response, I remembered that I also saw the massage trick on another site. I gave it a go (without a microfiber cloth, soft cotton instead haha) and it seems to have relieved the issue quite a good amount!

I've only had the screen for about 40-50 days, it's just a bit of a hassle with the boxing up/returning etc. The screen is still practically new.

The photos from my camera really make it look awful, it's not THAT terrible but was still noticeable in pitch black conditions. The massage trick did help, thanks for the suggestion and your response! I'll give it a few more days to see if it really did fix it, before deciding to send it back.

Take care.
