In het juridische document waarin het mogelijke verzoek wordt genoemd stellen de advocaten van de overheid dat er tot nu toe geen verzoek is gedaan om de broncode bij Apple op te vragen, omdat deze zet 'niet in de smaak zou vallen' bij het bedrijf. Als Apple deze weg echter wil inslaan, biedt dit wel een uitkomst die minder werk van het bedrijf vergt.
Het is toch de Amerikaanse overheid die die weg mogelijk wil inslaan?
