DiagTrack - The Diagnostics Tracking Service

When you acquire, install and use the Program, Microsoft collects information about you, your devices, applications and networks, and your use of those devices, applications and networks. Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage. For example, when you:

• Install the Program, we may collect information about your device and applications and use it for purposes such as determining or improving compatibility.
• Use voice input features like speech-to-text, we may collect voice information and use it for purposes such as improving speech processing.
• Open a file, we may collect information about the file, the application used to open the file, and how long it takes and use it for purposes such as improving performance.
• Enter text, we may collect typed characters and use them for purposes such as improving auto complete and spell check features.

via de 2e link kom ik uit bij de microsoft website, die verwijzen dat deze KB3022345 is vervangen door:

The diagnostics tracking service collects diagnostics about functional issues on Windows systems that participate in the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP)

CEIP reports do not contain contact information, such as your name, address, or telephone number. This means CEIP will not ask you to participate in surveys or to read junk email, and you will not be contacted in any other way.

Microsoft has also released updates for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users and turns out that the update has enhanced data collection even on these older operating system versions. So operating systems such as Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are now able to collect data without the user's knowledge.

The updates released by Microsoft are kb3068708, kb3022345, kb3075249 and kb3080149, which basically "introduce the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service" for the older Windows versions. Moreover per Microsoft, these updates also "add telemetry points to the User Account Control (UAC) feature to collect information on elevations that come from low integrity levels."

So this basically means that once a user installs any of the above-mentioned updates, Microsoft will have the ability to collect data from your Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 PC just as it is able to on Windows 10.

Zeer zorgelijk.

ik vind de oplossing van techtimes om in de host file de data collectie domeinen te blokkeren goed bedoeld, maar vraag mij af of het werkelijk effectief is. Hoe kun je er op vertrouwen dat deze domeinen überhaupt worden geblokkeerd in Windows ongeacht de configuratie in de host file.

Zoek op "Diagtrackrunner.exe", vindt je die, verwijder hem. Verder de hier opgenoemde updates verwijderen en verbergen (blokkeren). Voorts bij elke aangeboden update eerst goed kijken naar de informatie over de betreffende update.

En ja, ik vind dit schandalig van Microsoft.....

Verwijderd krijg ik 'm niet. Zit gekoppeld aan svchost.exe.

Via services (via taakbeheer) en dan eigenschappen van Diagnostics Tracking Service kan je m wel uitschakelen.

Verwijderen van de update die hem geïnstalleerd heeft zou hem ook weer moeten verwijderen. Dit kan wel even duren.

Sorry dat ik geen betere link kan geven. Er blijken nogal wat verschillende situaties te bestaan, zodat er geen algemene oplossing is. Het is oa afhankelijk van welke update(s) je hebt..

Diagtrackrunner.exe kan trouwens meer dan eens op je systeem voorkomen. Verwijder alle updates die in verband staan met installeren van diagtrackrunner.exe.
