Panasonic TX-P42U30E YSUS problem

Hi all,

Sorry this is in English. We have a Panasonic TX-P42U30E plasma that was working with no problems until suddenly it decided to turn off and not turn back on again . We sent it for repair and were told that we need a new YSUS board (Model TNPA5349 AB).

We would like to buy a nice new sony but would like to sell the Panasonic. Does anyone know who would buy such a tv? According to the repair company, it was only the board that needed replacing but the cost was too much for us. Maybe someone else can use it for parts!

I tried to find a store that would let us trade in for a Sony KDL-40W605B, KDL-48W605B or KDL-42W705B but it does not seem possible to "trade in". I already tried PlatteTv.nl but no luck!

Sorry for the kick.
The Ysus boards on these models are quite expensive (100,- and up for a refurbished part). It is possible for someone with good soldering skills to replace the defective parts but it will still cost around 50,- for parts off ebay. This is IF the Ysus board is the only one that failed. These models are also known for failing A-boards and it is not unlikely that a short on the Ysus board will also kill some of the other components.

The Ysus boards are easily shorted when other defects occur, and when they go up to 15parts on the board get fried. This is not an easy repair, and if something else is defective and the board shorts out again you can start all over.

I think your best bet is just to give it away or get it repaired. The risk is too high for someone to actually buy this and invest so much money in a repair that they can only verify after installing the new parts.
