Windows 8 m.b.v. DISM terug zetten.

Ik heb hier een W8 laptop van het merk Toshiba. Op een of andere manier (denk door virus) is de gehele partition pleite. Maar ik heb 2 DVD'S met een system restrore, alleen werkt het via het menu niet. Ik krijg altijd de melding dat geen geldige partitie gevonden kan worden.

Nu heb ik met een WinPE boot cd een NTFS partitie gemaakt en deze ook geactiveerd. Maar de restore werkt nog niet. Nu kom ik op de DVD SWM bestanden tegen. Deze staan in de folder e:\zzimages\zzimages.

Via google gevonden dat het nu met w8 DISM en niet meer imagex de image terug geïnstalleerd moet worden. Maar daar kom ik niet echt verder. Ook google geef mij geen goede raad.

Ben al zoveer dat ik dit moet uitvoeren: Dism /apply-image /imagefile:preinst.swm

En dan wordt er een applydir gevraagd. Maar wat ik daar ook invul ik krijg alleen maar foutmeldingen.

Wat is nu het exacte commando om dit zet imagefiles (zijn er 48; Preinst.swm t/m Preinst64.swm), Station waar het naartoe moet is 320 gig en nu geformateerd als NTFS. Heeft schijfletter C. IK weet niet welke informatie nog eventueel nodig is.

Dit voel lastiger dan een NT3.5 installatie...

Applydir is C dus. Kan je alleen niet helpen met de 48 verschillende files.

Recovery of Toshiba laptop

please read until end before starting recovery! After searching all the web I found a method to reset a Toshiba satellite L500-1UR to factory settings. Before I want to describe the approach I will summerize my starting situation.

I got the laptop from my brother. The boot manager was changed while another Windows Version was installed. So the option Toshiba HDDRecovery in the options of "repair computer" or the option itself after pressing F8 at boot time wasn't available. Fortunately, he didn't delete the "HDDRecovery" folder on its DATA partition, so all factory images were available. To install I needed a method to apply an image installation. This is possible with the Windows 7 recovery CD you can download it for example here .

Boot this CD, start a command prompt. The way to do this is described here .

At command prompt you change to the partition with the HDDRecovery folder. At my brothers laptop it was:

D:\HDDRecovery

In a sub-folder you will find the command line tool "imagex". At my brothers laptop it was located in:

D:\HDDRecovery\ODDFiles\Tools

On the other hand, you need the image files. These files were located in

D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\

and ended with .swm . swm-files are splited wim-files, the Microsoft format for image files. For your problem you must locate your "imagex" and your swm-files. On my brothers laptop there were 6 files

Now, the recovery is very easy:

change to folder were imagex is located. Here

D:
cd D:\HDDRecovery\ODDFiles\Tools

1. format the WINDOWS partition (mostly C:) on the command line with
format c: /fs:ntfs /q /V:WINDOWS

2. Apply recovery image to C: with the command, for my brothers laptop:

imagex /ref D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP*.swm /apply D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP.swm 2 C:\

the option /ref says imagex the location of the splitted images, expressed with a wildcard
the option /apply says imagex the location of the first image

the number "2" represents the second image inside of the swm-files, here the image for the WINDOWS partition

C:\ says imagex on which partition it should apply the image.

Perhaps your SYSTEM partition has to be reset to, so you have to do the same steps for it. I did it without formating it by:

imagex /ref D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP*.swm /apply D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP.swm 1 C:\

WARNING: I found out the image number by executing:

imagex /ref D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP*.swm /apply D:\HDDRecovery\SWImg\10656XSP.swm * C:\

The use of the wildcard (*) led to an error, so the command throw an XML-File plot were I found the correct image number for the partitions.

Now you have write back the factory image to your partition(s). Perhaps it is necessary to reinstall the bootmanager. If you get the error:

"NO BOOTMGR"
at startup, you have to use the recovery CD a second time. Now, you can choose the option
"Startup Repair" in the same menu where you found the option "Command Prompt".
It will find out that no bootmanager is installed and will repair it.

So, I hope I could help anyone.

@wagenfeld: dat heb ik uiteraard geprobeerd. zowel als C C: en C:\windows. maar telkens kwam de melding dat er een fout in deze regel is.

@fridgeman: Dat is de recovery voor W7 niet voor W8. Zoals gezegd W7 gebruikt "imagex" en W8 gebruik "dism" (kan uiterard proberen om deze W8 recovery met W7 terug te zetten.

/edit: Hij doet wat met: Dism /apply-image /imagefile:preinst.swm /swmfile:preinst*.swm /index:1 /applydir:C:\
(was het vroeger toch veel makkelijker met Ghost e.d.)

En werkt niet. Na het terugzetten komt een melding dat er iets gewijzigd is in deze computer en dat ik toch een restore moet uitvoeren.

Kan mij iemand vertellen waar ik een W8 Core legaal vandaan krijg? Aangezien er tegenwoordig geen stickers meer op de PC zitten kan ik deze ook niet via de Microsoft downloaden. Microsoft vraagt uiteraard om een KEY. Heb al de leverancier van de laptop een mail gestuurd, eens kijken of die wat kunnen doen. En op MSDN/Technet krijg ik dit: "There is no subscription associated with your Microsoft account"

Ohja het moet een Duitse versie zijn.

Is dat dan nieuw met 8.1? Ik heb 8.0 en die is Engels. En kon tijdens de installatie ook geen andere taal kiezen.

En waarom bied MSDN/Technet ze dan in alle mogelijke talen aan?

Niet helemaal waar.
De licentie is taal onafhankelijk (hoewel ik niet weet hoe dat bv zit met oa de Chinese markt en of daar wel andere prijzen aan hangen).
Pas vanaf Windows 8 heb je op iedere clientversie toegang tot alle language packs ; voorheen (Vista en 7) kon je de language packs alleen maar op een Enterprise / Ultimate versie installeren zonder gekke omwegen te gebruiken.

Als je een Win8(.1) licentiecode hebt, kan je de installer downloaden via http://windows.microsoft..../upgrade-product-key-only

Ja, das juist het probleem, er bevind zich tegenwoordig geen licentiestickers meer op de laptops. De licentie bevind zich in de PC zelf.

Kan je dan niet met een of andere boot CD/DVD die licentiecode uitlezen?
