Hello everybody,
First of all my apologies for writing in English, my Dutch is not so good yet.
I have the "creative sound blaster z". Its connected with a toslink optical cable to my Logitech z5500 receiver. On my windows 7 system, on the sound panel, i have set the "speakers" as the default audio device. And spdif is also activated. Everything works, except for the main volume adjustment.
I can not adjust the main volume on the PC with the mixer or in the "creative pro studio" control panel. I can move the main volume slider up and down, but the volume stays the same. I can only change the volume on my Logitech receiver.
If i open a music playing program, for example spotify, and then i open the mixer, then spotify has its own volume slider next to the main volume slider. I can change the volume of spotify there, with spotify's own slider in the mixer, that does work. But if i move the main volume slider, then spotify's mixer slider also moves along with the main volume slider, but the volume itself stays the same. So for some reason i can only control the volume per application, via their mixer slider or via the program itself. But i can not change the overall main volume on the PC. I also can not change the volume of individual speakers in "creative pro studio". I can move the sliders, but the volume does not change, just like with the main volume.
If i choose the SPDIF as the default device, instead of the "speakers" in windows sound, then i can adjust the main volume. But then i seem to only have 2 channel audio. In "creative pro studio", on the MIXER tab, i click on the spdif settings button, then i can change the volume of the individual left or right speaker, but there are no options in the panel to change the volume of the other speakers: center, rearright, rearleft and subwoover. Those options are only available for the "speaker" settings, but those only work when "speakers" is set as default sound device instead of spdif.
What i want: set "speakers" as default + change the main volume on pc, and control the individual speaker volume in the "creative pro studio" mixer tab, speaker settings. Like i mentioned before, i can access all the sliders but moving them does not change the volume.
I have the latest drivers installed. How can i have 5.1. sound and also control the main volume and individual speaker volume of all 5 speakers and subwoover?
