Non experienced in the field wants to overclock a K6-2 400 ... (please help

Hi guys,

I am kinda un-(or rather: non-)experienced in the field of overclocking processor speeds. As I've been seeing loads of posts of ppl. doing this, I would like your advice on the following: Just over a year ago, I joined an EPP program where I bought an IBM Aptiva (with a Micro-ATX mb (and ALi M1542/M1543 chipset) and an AMD-K6/2 400MHz processor with 3DNOW! (MMX variant)). It's working fine and all, but realizing clockspeeds have since then doubled, I was wondering up to what clockspeed I could have this baby running without too much hassle with (liquid :-)) cooling features.

Can anyone advise something, or point me in the right directions where I can find postings regarding this issue. I can imagine that the 'real' tweakers posted issues like this some year ago, but I wouldn't know where to search.

Hi,

A K6-2 400 should be able to run stable at 450 Mhz (4,5 x 100) with conventional cooling.

You could also take a look at the CPU Database over @ http://www.overclockers.com so you can see what other people with the same CPU have been able to accomplish. Seems like Flippo-dealer is right and most of them can run 450MHz without a problem, but who knows maybe you can get it a bit higher . Good luck!

Mijn oprechte en nederige excuses voor het gebruiken van de Engelandse taal. Een slechte gewoonte, maar alle commentaren bij de velden zijn in het Engelands en die verleiding heb ik automatisch overgenomen.
