[PW] Categorisering van games

Het kwam omdat ik naar Foruma 1 F1 2010 zocht dat ik hierop kwam. Ik kwam toen tot het besef dat de games soms nogal scheef gecategoriseerd zijn. Aanpassen lukt niet, omdat je Merk/Categorie/Versie niet kunt aanpassen, bij het aanpassen van een product..

Maar hoe ik er bij kwam: Het lijkt me beter om deze:

Forumla 1 F1 2011:

Is het wat consistenter. Aangezien het om de zelfde reeks gaat.
Als je F1 2010 nu probeerd te zoeken op de manier zoals Formula 1 F1 2011 nu wordt geschreven, vind je het niet.

Het zou nog beter zijn om het te doen zoals dit:

Zoals ik het nu een beetje kijk zijn de meeste games zo gecategoriseerd. Echter is dit dus (helaas) geen mogelijk in de pricewatch. (zowel niet als een nieuw product als een bestaand product te bewerken). Momenteel wordt het (volgens mij) zo gedaan:
Categorie(Games) » Merk: (Uitgever) » Versie (Naam van het spel).

Als ik kijk bij bijvoorbeeld Call of Duty:

Heeft het dus wel deze manier van categoriseren. Al had ik er bij deze toch zelf voor gekozen om het zo te doen:

Als je nu ook bij het Product (in dit gevalt Modern Warfare 2) ook een pijltje zet zoals nu al kan voor de platforms (snel switchen tussen PS3/Xbox/PC, etc).

Nu staat er bijvoorbeeld bij Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare het volgende:

Alsof Modern Warfare een subcategorie is van Call of Duty 4. Nee, het is het zelfde. Daarnaast zou je nu verwachten dat als je op 'modern warfare' klikt, dat je ook 2 en 3 zult zien, maar dat is niet zo.

Aangezien CoD op zichzelf een redelijk groot onderwerp is, heb je gelijk alle info onder "Call of Duty" als je daar op klikt.

Geld evenmin voor bv Battlefield:
pricewatch: Battlefield 3, PlayStation 3

Momenteel:

En dan net zoals je nu bij de uitvoering (PC/XBOX/PS3) een pijltje hebt, ook een pijltje doen bij het product zodat je snel kunt switchen tussen bijvoorbeeld Battlefield 3 en Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Ontzettend bedankt voor het uitzoekwerk, je verhaal is heel duidelijk. Je hebt gelijk dat het op een aantal plekken niet consistent is. De hoofdreden is dat wij pas sinds de nieuwe site (dus +/- 2 maanden geleden) de mogelijkheid hebben om verschillende uitvoeringen onder een 'parapluutje' te zetten. Omdat het geen doen is om gelijk alles wat we in de Pricewatch hebben staan na te gaan lopen, hebben we gekozen om de populairste x producten (het getal weet ik niet meer uit mijn hoofd) uit elke categorie te checken en waar nodig te koppelen.

Hierdoor zijn er nog steeds een heleboel 'losse' uitvoeringen die eigenlijk moeten worden samengevoegd. En ook op sommige plekken is dat misgegaan, met de verkeerde uitvoeringen bij elkaar, of zoals het geval van F1 2011 een verkeerde benaming. Slordig, maar niet te vermijden, daar het 99% uit mensenwerk bestaat.

Bij games hadden wij toevallig enige tijd geleden een discussie van hoe we het moeten doen. Ik weet niet of jij erbij zat, want hoe jij je tabel hebt opgebouwd, was ook onze conclusie Dus de reeks onder Serie, spel (en eventueel Special Editions) als Productnaam en de uitvoeringnaam is het platform. Het kost ons relatief veel werk om goed uit te zoeken welke varianten er zijn, wat er bij elkaar hoort en welke dus onder 1 product geschaard kunnen worden, zeker bij een grote serie als Call Of Duty. Daarom gaan we er niet actief naar op zoek, maar we proberen wel daar waar het ons toevallig opvalt, dit te repareren zodat het weer netjes is. Ook populaire/recente uitvoeringen krijgen bij ons een voorkeursbehandeling. Uiteraard worden nieuwe spellen gelijk goed gezet.

Ik zal eens kijken of het mij deze week lukt om in ieder geval de Call Of Duty reeks aan te pakken en netjes te ordenen, zodat we in ieder geval 1 zeer populaire serie goed hebben staan en deze als voorbeeld kan dienen voor de rest.

Edit: wat betreft je verzoek om snel naar producten te kunnen schakelen binnen een serie, net als met de uitvoeringen binnen een product, ik zal dit doorspelen als feature request, eens kijken wat hier de mogelijkheden voor zijn. Het lijkt mij wel geinig namelijk.

Ik zat niet bij die discussie (niet op jullie kantoor en ook niet op het forum ) Maar dan lijkt het me een juist een extra bevestiging dat die manier de beste is

Ik had Call of Duty als voorbeeld genomen omdat dit de grootste serie was die ik kende, dus gelijk een duidelijk voorbeeld. Maar evenmin voor Battlefield.

Ik hoop dat die feature request erdoor heen komt, lijkt mj niet alleen geinig, maar ook handig Daarnaast behoud je op die manier ook een soort van archief. Dan raken de games ook niet in de vergetelheid. Zullen ondertussen waarschijnlijk genoeg mensen zijn die denken dat CoD:UO een nieuw spel is als je het er over hebt, omdat ze er nog nooit van gehoord hebben
Daarnaast is het voor verzamelaars, zoals ik, ook een handig hulpmiddel om elke game uit een reeks te bemachtigen.
