Hi guys,

I am having issues when I connect to my home internet with my work laptop. I work for a large multinational and I have to connect to the internet using a secure system. My laptop recognizes my wireless and I am able to connect to the secure hub of my company (“Powered by DOSI RAS”).

However, after less than 5 minutes I can no longer access the internet or the secure server even though I am still connected to the internet. The weird thing is that from time to time it actually works for a few hours, but most of the time I cannot access the secure network nor the internet.

All other ‘regular’ laptops work fine on my home internet and somehow my work laptop does connect fine at the coffeeshop around the corner. The network connection diagnostics for the secure server shows that the ‘Ping failed with the DHCP server’, which makes me think that something goes wrong in the connection between my router and the secure server.

I talked to some people at work who suggested it might have to do with the settings of the router and the IP address allocated to my laptop by the router, but I have not been able to figure it out. Below you find my computer details. I have already searched through the standard topics about connecting to networks etc, but I do not seem to be able to locate the problem. Can anyone offer any advice? Would be very much appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance!

Computer: Dell Latitude E6400
Operating system: Windows XP Professional Version 2002. Service pack 3.
Network drive: Intel CRD 82567LM Gigabit Network connection #2 AND Wifilink 5300 AGN

Do these problems also occur when the laptop has a wired connection?
Are there more/a lot of wireless networks (you can check with inSSIDer)?
Have you tried a different channel for wireless (on the router)?
Why do you ask this question in English?

Eerst het probleem, dan de oplossing

Although there are tweakers whom are willing to reply in English, Tweakers.Net is a dutch website. So Dutch will also be the language used on the forum. Either you open a new topic where you post a dutch translation of the story above, or you should go and find yourself an English forum.
