Sharepoint 2010 VSS Writer

Bij het backuppen van de Sharepoint 2010 farm via DPM gaat er iets fout:

DPM could not obtain backup metadata information for <SQLDB> on <server>. If the data source is a SharePoint farm then a valid recovery point has been created. However, content databases from this recovery point can be recovered using the alternate location option only. (ID: 3134)

Als ik de Sharepoint 2010 VSS Writer op de server herstart, dan werkt het backuppen weer... tot de volgende dag.

In principe kan ik een eenvoudig scriptje schrijven dat elke dag de service herstart, maar dat kan niet de bedoeling zijn. Alvorens ik een dure call bij Microsoft open wou ik eens zien of hier iemand een idee heeft.

Noot: Sharepoint Protection is dus wel degelijk enabled en de VSS writer staat op automatic.

Heb je SP 2010 SP1 geïnstalleerd en de configuration wizard nadien laten lopen?

Changing the password in Active Directory and for the Sharepoint services themselves didn't seem to be sufficient, so I used the Sharepoint Central Administration Console to set the password for the spfarm user to the same password I had already set for Active Directory. This seems to be the most important piece.

Adding the Sharepoint Foundation to Windows Server Backup required running the command "stsadm -o registerwsswriter" from the command line (does not require Powershell). This was actually how I figured out that I needed to change the spfarm password in Sharepoint Central Administration - the first time I ran this command it complained that the passwords were not the same (the AD password and the Sharepoint password).

So, the end result is that the SharePoint 2010 VSS writer service STAYS RUNNING, and the SharePoint foundation is now listed in the apllications of our SBS backup.
