Hello L.G.,
Thank you for contacting Skype Customer Service.
We understand your concern that you wish to know why it is not possible to do video calling using HTC Cha Cha. We appreciate the chance to assist you with this matter.
It seems that your device did not met the minimum system requirements to be able to do Video calling.
Video calling over Skype is now supported by Android. To make Skype video calls, you will need:
• An Android phone running Android 2.2 (Froyo) or above.
• 1Ghz processing power or more (recommended)
• Front facing camera.
• Chipset with NEON technology support*.
• The latest version of Skype for Android (Skype 2.1 for Android and above).
* This specifically does not include some tablets that use the Tegra 2 chipset (e.g. Android tablets and Motorola
Atrix do not support video calling).
If your phone meets the minimum requirements, then simply download Skype 2.1 for Android by visiting skype.com/m on your mobile browser or visiting the Android Market and you’ll be able to make free video calls over Skype.
It’s possible you may need to manually enable Skype video calling on your Android phone. To do this:
1. Sign in to Skype.
2. Tap the phone’s menu button.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select Enable video calling.
If you have to enable Skype video calling, it means your phone is not certified for video calling. It’s possible that the video quality might not be as good on non-certified phones as it is on certified phones. Unfortunately, if you cannot see the video calling settings, it means your Android phone does not meet the minimum requirements needed to make Skype video calls.
You can make Skype video calls over WiFi or a 3G connection. The quality of the video will depend on the available network conditions. Additional data charges may apply if you are using Skype over a 3G connection. Check with your mobile operator for full details.
