Beste tweakers!
Hi all,
First, my setup:
Asus P6T SE
i7-920
12 GB OCZ RAM
Onboard ICH10R:
1x SSD 80 GB (on SATA port)
2x WD 300 GB (on SATA port)
3x WD 2000 GB (on SATA port) RAID 5
1x Plextor DVD-RW (on PATA JMicron IDE)
Sweex PU102 SATA150 Controller (2 ports):
1x BR-DVD RW
1x WD 1000 GB
Now, here is the problem:
When i want to use my RAID5 setup, i have to disable the JMicron PATA / eSATA controller, before i can access the Intel Storage Controller through CTRL-I. If i have it enabled tho, the Intel Storage Controller won't load, and i see a short error saying "Not Enough Space To Copy Pci Option Rom".
Now, here is the question:
I need my JMicron eSATA / PATA Controller enabled AND have my SATA set to RAID, so i can use my RAID5 array through the ICH10R.
Right now i have everything running flawless, but with the eSATA / PATA Controller disabled, thus missing my Plextor DVD-RW drive.
I've read that alot of people using ASUS mobo's have this PCI Option Rom problem, but no1 seems to have the answer how to solve this other then disabling the eSATA controller?
I hope someone can help me out on this one.
Kind regards,
Kami.
EDIT:
It seems that the problems start after adding an extra SATA-controller (like in my case the Sweex PU102).
I've read somewhere that the BIOS ROM chip just can't handle the amount of data that needs to be loaded by the 3 RAID Controller BIOS init's.
Can any1 confirm this and let me know if there is a way to get 'em all 3 to function (by e.g. turning off onboard devices that use the same PCI-Masterbus)?
One of the solutions seems to be disabling the Boot Rom option (thus leaving the card / controller enabled, only not allowing a boot from it).
This would be fine, but... there are no options on the Asus P6T SE Bios to disable BootROM for either the Intel SATA or JMicron PATA controller, only to disable the entire controller.
Maybe if i could get the Sweex PU102 to disable it's BootROM, i'd be fine.
I'd prefer to disable BootROM for the JMicron, since my SSD that holds the OS is located on the ICH10R SATA port.
Any thoughts on this issue?
Hopelijk komt iemand dit bekend voor en heeft deze er ook een oplossing voor gevonden.
Dank zover!
Met vriendelijke groet,
Kami.
