i'm the proud owner of a chaintech 5agm2 for almost 2 years now, and it has done a great job for me. but its my current system is getting to slow for the tasks i use it for (intensive gaming and 3d-moddeling).
now i have two questions:
does the 5agm2 support the AMD k6-2+ (note the "+" sign)?
does the 5agm2 support other Vcores then described in the manual?
i will explain my second question a bit more. i noticed that it seems as if the jumper settings for the Vcore are made of bits.
for instance with the Vcore at 2.2, the jumper setting would be: OXOOO (where O=open and X=closed). this is exatly the same as the number two in bits (01000). a Vcore of 2.4 has this setting: OOXOO
the number 4 in bits is 00100.
thus, my conclusion would be that the 5agm2 supports Vcore settings of 2.6, 2.7, 3.0, 3.1, 3.4 and maybe even 2.0 and 2.1. am i right in thinking this?

Dear Sir:
With the most recent Bios update your board can support up to a K6 III 450. I have also noticed that you can use certain non-standard voltage-settings on the 5AGM2, but I would NOT advise going outside these standards, as the voltage regulators on this board burn-out easily, geen over-clocking dus!

i recieved my k6-2+ 550 two days ago, and i would like to inform you that it runs totally stable on my 5agm2. the bios recognizes the cpu as a AMD k6-2+ cpu. the 5agm2 doesn't work with a voltage of 2,0, but i runs it at 2,1 now. you can set the voltage to 2.1 by setting jumer 4 to this: XOOOO, where X is closed and O is open.
it also runs at 600 MHz, using a multiplier of 2, without a noticable temperature rasing.
i thought you might wanted to know this, in case anyone else asks you about this cpu.

Thank you for the info, however you are running a 550 at your own risk, as I have noticed that windows tends to become unstable with this CPU. I strongly advise that you run it at 450, but the decision is yours.
hehe, domme lui....dat van die 2.1 volt en 2.2 volt = 2,3 volt valt met mijn theorie wel te verklaren....
