[ATI] videokaart zorgt voor POST loop?

Gister een nieuwe ATI Club3D 5770 1GB gekocht om mijn oude ATI 1950 Pro te vervangen.

Na het installeren kreeg ik al meteen een vreemd probleem: de computer ging eerst 15x resetten voordat het POST-scherm te voorscheen kwam. Waarna de computer het verder normaal doet.

Ik had dus het vermoede dat mijn Scythe 500W voeding net niet voldoende was, vandaag een Cooler Master Real 620W in huis gehaald. Weer met de nieuwe videokaart proberen te booten; zelfde probleem.

Zoeken op google heeft mij niet veel verder kunnen helpen. Ook gekeken voor eventuele BIOS updates, maar deze zijn alleen voor nieuwe CPU's en niet voor andere problemen voor zover ik heb kunnen vinden.

In principe doet mijn computer het nu dus wel goed, maar 15x resetten vóór het POST-scherm lijkt mij niet gezond voor alle hardware..

Heeft iemand een idee waar het aan kan liggen? Zou het kunnen zijn dat mijn moederbord misschien te oud is voor deze nieuwe kaart?

heb je al eens je CMOS proberen te clearen?

CMOS clearen heb ik eerder gedaan.

Ik heb het net weer even gedaan. Resultaat: Disk Boot Failure.

Windows repair verhelpt dit wel.. maar volgens mij hoort dit ook niet?

Nooit geweten dat Asus een forum had, wat natuurlijk wel logisch is dat ze er een hebben.

Even gezocht en het blijkt dat de 5*** series ATI kaarten op bepaalde ASUS moederborden het niet zo goed doen en met een nog uit te brengen BIOS flash opgelost wordt..

The M2N-E SLI motherboard indeed has a compatibility problem when using HD5xxx based ATI graphics adapters (I am using a Sapphire Radeon HD5770). It takes about 55 seconds and several hard drive and FAN spin-ups before the POST continues with its initial beep.

After doing some analysis on that issue with my computer (measuring total power consumption, disconnecting all 12V and 5V consumers, checking the PSU's power-good signal, trying another PSU, ...) I was finally sure that this was not a problem of the PSU, which I had suspected initially. I also read that other ASUS boards (M2N-E, M2N-SLI, P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe, ...) suffered the same problem, for some a solution (BIOS patch) was available.

So I decided to contact ASUS Germany support on that matter and after some mail exchange they too were convinced that the PSU is not to blame and forwarded the problem to Taiwan for deeper analysis. Two days ago I finally got a new BIOS (version 1205). I flashed it and the problems were gone. The mainboard now comes up normally, the 55 seconds delay has disappeared.
