[Windows 7] Defender update weigert te installeren

Sinds een paar weken krijg ik de Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 niet geïnstalleerd. Hij download de bestanden wel, maar wanneer ik 'm probeer te updaten geeft hij de volgende foutmelding:



Op 'Get help with this error' klikken heeft niet veel nut, want daar staat de error niet tussen. Andere updates gaan prima.

Volgens Google kunnen de volgende dingen het probleem oplossen, maar werkten helaas niet in mijn geval:

1. Het stoppen van de Windows Update service, verwijderen van alle temporary update files en de Windows Update service weer starten. (officiële Microsoft oplossing)
2. Hernoemen van %windir%\SoftwareDistribution naar SDTemp (Wederom een Microsoft oplossing)

Ik heb echt geen idee wat het probleem is en hoe ik het zou moeten oplossen. Het ziet er naar uit dat het een re-install zal worden, maar mocht iemand nog ideeën hebben...

Windows defender hebben sommige ook gewoon NAAST hun Anti-virus draaien.
Er zijn paketten die daar geen problemen mee hebben en sommige kunnen heel raar gaan doen (Mcafee)

Tuurlijk weet ik dat het niet netjes is(ben al een jaartje of 8 systeembeheerder) maar men doet het wel.
...en als je het niet vraagt kom je het vaak ook niet te weten (en da's dan lastig op te lossen)

Ben het met je eens hoor maar mag aannemen dat 99.99% van alle andere AV-scanners wel door heeft dat de signature en de API-call van WindowsUpdate al maanden geverifieerd moet kunnen worden?

Ik kan ze wel binnenhalen, installeren lukt ook maar ook na een reboot lukt de update nog steeds niet.

NOD32 als anti-virus, hardware firewall. Had al gelezen dat McAfee wel eens wuauclt.exe in de quarantaine wilt zetten, maar dat heeft nooit op deze machine gestaan.

In principe kan ik dus Windows Defender gewoon uitzetten? Dat zou een heel simpele oplossing zijn

Gewoon Windows Defender uitgezet, probleem opgelost.

Ik weet het niet zeker maar misschien is Windows Defender verouderd en zul je Microsoft Security Essentials moeten downloaden. Dit moet natuurlijk niet maar het is door Microsoft aanbevolen.
