I noticed a year ago that some members were getting the BIOS warning message
"Engineering release - not for production use (5.73.22.54.00A)". I have just bought a second-hand Inno3D 7600GS AGP 256MB card and it has this same warning.
The warning is caused by a flag bit in the BIOS at location 0x48 which tags it as an engineering test version. The solution is to download a formally distributed version of 5.73.22.54.00A which does not have this flag set. This is easier said than done, because I could not find one anywhere.
I happened to have several other identical cards, so I extracted the BIOS from a non-engineering one and used it to overwrite the engineering BIOS. Problem solved, but if any other members browsing these forums wish to resolve the warning message then I could suggest the following procedure.
1. extract the current BIOS with nvflash.exe
2. manually edit the BIOS file to change two locations:
- location 0x48 change from 0x01 to 0x00 (i.e. turn the engineering flag off)
- location 0xEDFF change from 0x81 to 0x82 (i.e. adjust checksum by the value of the altered flag)
(note, 0xEDFF should be the last byte in the file)
3. use nvflash.exe to update the BIOS with the patched version.
To save you the trouble of constructing and editing your own file, I've uploaded a copy of the non-engineering BIOS (NVIDIA.7600GS.256.061102.ROM). I'm not sure how long the forum keep uploaded files available for other members, whihc is why I've included the manual instructions for building your own.
zoals ik hier uitmaak, is dit een foutje van de bios oppe kaart, als je even googeld , dan kom je meer van dit soort kaarten tegen, in dit geval een van de 7 serie
