ATI 3870 - 8Bit RGB of 10Bit RGB?

Wat heb ik begrepen is dat DVI standaard 8Bit per RGB channel heeft.
Als ik nu kijk op de AMD site dan zie ik dit staan:

"Full 30-bit display processing "
"Spatial/temporal dithering provides 30-bit color quality on 24-bit and 18-bit displays "

Mij is nu niet helemaal duidelijk wat ze hier mee bedoelen. Worden 30bit (3x 10) schermen alleen ondersteund of wordt er ook daadwerkelijk 30bit uitgezonden over DVI?

Ik heb stiekem het idee dat die 30-bit processing óf alleen analoog uitgevoerd wordt, óf alleen over HDMI, wat overigens nog wel verder kan qua kleur.
