In the superficial world of high fashion, image is everything. Styles come and go and the only constants are wafer-thin beauties who wear it. Where could a girl who is less than pretty and a little bit pudgy possibly fit in? If you knew Betty Suarez, you'd see how sweet, intelligent and hard-working she is. Few people ever get to know her because in the world of fashion, Betty is the oversized square peg, in the petite round hole. But finally, her looks and lack of fashion sense are going to be an asset. When publishing mogul Bradford Meade hands the reigns of his fashion magazine, Gloss, over to his son Daniel, he specifically hires Betty as his son's new assistant - mostly because she's the only woman in NYC who Daniel won't sleep with. The story is based on the Colombian telenovela Yo Soy Betty La Fea (I am Ugly Betty).

Hoofdpersonen

Betty Suarez (America Ferrera) Betty is the overly friendly assistant hired by Bradford Meade for his son Daniel Meade, because of her unstylish look and curvy body. Although the people at Mode are hard on her, she manages to make friends, be ambitious about life and her job and help mold her coworkers and family. Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius) Daniel is the womanizing editor-in-chief of his family's magazine, Mode, and also Betty's boss. He inherited the magazine from his father Bradford Meade and is quickly learning the fashion business. Hilda Suarez (Ana Ortiz) Hilda is Betty's older sister & mother of Justin, who she had at 18. Hilda owns a beauty salon but still struggles to create her own sense of purpose in the light of Betty's success. Christina McKinney (Ashley Jensen) She is a seamstress who works at Mode magazine and becomes fast friends with Betty and knows the ins and outs of what goes on at Mode. The sassy, Scottish fashion designer is always there for Betty and does not judge her on her looks. Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams) She is a diva and former supermodel who works as the Creative Director of Mode and is always up to something since she was looked over for the job of editor-in-chief of MODE magazine. She is now co-Editor in Chief alongside Daniel, but she will do whatever it takes to get the full role of Editor in Chief. Marc St. James (Michael Urie) Marc is Wilhelmina's little scheming, always hilarious, incredibly flamboyant assistant. He normally is scheming with the recepionist, Amanda. He is openly homosexual and he has the inside scoop on everything at MODE and is always up to something devious. Amanda Tanen (Becki Newton) Fashion plate receptionist at MODE who is always scheming with Marc, Wilhelmina's assistant. The duo make for a very funny, albiet mean, team. On the outside, cruel and rude, but as the show progresses, she shows more of her feelings and sensitivity. Ignacio Suarez (Tony Plana) Ignacio Suarez is Betty's father and an immigrant from Mexico, where he used to be a cook until he murdered his boss. Now, Ignacio is a legal US Citizen and a single father to his girls and helps raise his grandson, Justin. He and Hilda believe that she is being used at Mode, mostly because of her appearance. Justin Suarez (Mark Indelicato) He is Betty's newphew. He encourages his aunt to dream big and knows more about fashion than most of his family. He would rather dance than play soccer, and loves clothes and musicals. Claire Meade (Judith Light) Claire Meade is the mother of Daniel and Alexis and the ex-wife of deceased publishing mogul Bradford Meade. Claire is a recovering alcoholic and murdered Meade's former lover. Alexis Meade (Rebecca Romijn) Alexander Meade was formerly Daniel's big brother and now has become his big sister. She came back to take over the company with Wilhelmina, after having a sex change.

Was bijna Amanda niet meer in de show

Leuke aflevering van gisteren na meer dan een maand hebben moeten wachten op een nieuwe.

Wat een aflevering, Daniel eindelijk getrouwd, maar dan toch Molly die aan het eind richting de grond gaat. En ook hoe Jodie van YETI met Marc deed

Wat een sick seizoenseinde, alles wordt anders, gelukkig komt er een 4e seizoen.

Marc blijft assistant, maar nu van Matt, die ook weer meteen de baas van Betty wordt. Ook lullig voor Daniel hoe het nu met Molly af is gelopen.
