I've started to switch over more and more functions from the scientists in my lab to IT professionals. This was started several years ago when sysadmin was transferred over. In 2008, I've started the transfer of non-science code development to a professional computer programming company. In 2009, I am in the process of transitioning more operations work to IT staff. The first step here is the implementation of a "F@H help desk" person to keep an eye on the forum. You'll see posts with this name from time to time. The goal here is mainly triage, sending the information to the appropriate staff person at F@H.

The next step, hopefully coming in a few weeks to months is getting a higher level of support for operations, i.e. not just doing basic sysadmin but all the tasks in between the science and installing Linux, such as handling stats issues, storage problems, etc.

As F@H continues to grow, these changes will be especially critical. However, even for our level right now, I think this will hopefully be an important change, with the goal of making donation to FAH easier, and hopefully helping connect donor concerns to the appropriate staff at F@H.

Warning - Linux/OSX WINE GPU folding may break on Monday

We're planning to release a new NVIDIA GPU core from beta testing to the general F@h public on Monday. It uses CUDA functionality which is not supported by the current release of the WINE wrapper that has been used to run the GPU client under Linux, and therefore will trigger an immediate EUE. I have alerted the developers of the wrapper; once they are able to compile a new version of the wrapper that encapsulates the required functionality, any Linux/OSX GPU folders will need to update their cudart.dll.so files to avoid immediate EUEs with core 14. As we're not responsible for the development of the wrapper, please direct questions about that to the relevant forum thread (GPU2 in Linux via WINE).

My apologies for the hassle, but please remember that WINE is an unsupported platform; we're still working on the native Linux build which should eliminate these complications. I just wanted to give all of you early warning so you can appropriately plan.

Zodra de F@H GPU client weer is gefixt, dan draai ik weer mee.

Afgaande op ToToW van het Foldingforum, komt er volgende maand een fix voor XP waarbij de DLL-problemen worden opgelost w.b. F@H GPU 6.23 icm Cat 9.x. Fix in the making.

Ik vind wel dat er een eervolle vermelding voor de bijna Flusher van de Dag Webaccess mag zijn. Deze vouwert kwam met 74 plaatsen winst net op plekje 31 terecht waar deze in de 0:36 stats op Tadah met 103 plaatsen winst lekker bovenaan in de daily stond.

De officiële FvdD's zijn: ziggo-gebruikers.nl en Dutchie.

Blord en Big_Basje gefeliciteerd met jullie plaatsen winst in de overall top 30.
