Het lukt me niet om QOS op mijn router (Sitecom WL-153) werkend te krijgen. Ik heb een Siemens S685 IP Dect telefoon die een eigen IP adres heeft en in de router heb ik getracht QOS aan te zetten met 1 of meerdere rules. Dit had zeg maar geen effect.
Ik merk vooral bij telefoongesprekken dat het geluid van de gebelde haperend wordt. Dit is met name het geval als er veel gedownload wordt. (Dit zijn met name downloads op newsgroups). Als ik mijn downloads knijp van het maximum van 650Kb naar zeg 400Kb dan wordt het telefoongesprek acceptabel,
In de router kan ik de volgende gegevens invullen:
Bandwidth You can assign the download or upload bandwidth by the unit of Kbps (1024 bit per second). You can limit the maximum bandwidth consumed by this rule by selecting “Maximum”. You also can reserve enough bandwidth for this rule by selecting “Guarantee”.
Hier heb ik 400 opgegeven. Dat zou ruim voldoende moeten zijn. Aangezien ik last heb van de kwaliteit van de gebelde is mijn aanname dat ik de download zoveel mogelijk voorrang moet geven dus 400K Download Guaranteed.

Hier kan je kiezen voor None, HTTP, SMTP en FTP. Hier heb ik None gekozen. Maakt denk ik niet zoveel uit.

Hier kan je kiezen TCP of UDP. Ik heb begrepen dat VOIP alleen maar UTP gebruikt dus hier UTP ingesteld.
Als ik dit zo ingesteld heb merk ik geen verschil. Ik zie ook niet dat de downloads inzakken dus ik vermoed dat QOS niet goed is ingericht\ingesteld\werkt..
Mijn vraag is nu:
1. Heb ik de juiste gegevens ingevuld
2. Moet ik behalve een rule om het maximale binnen te halen op 1 IP adres ook een rule instellen die een ander adres een maximum geeft. (Maar is dat niet overbodig? en wordt dat dan niet altijd toegepast.)
3. Zou ik ook eens uit moeten kijken naar een (modernere) router. (Deze is al wat jaartjes oud en kan niet eens zijn bewaarde instellingen restoren! ;-( )
