[KDE] Dual monitor

Ik heb het volgende probleem. Op mijn laptop NC6320 heb ik openSuse 11 gezet. Vervolgens wil ik met een dual screen monitor opstelling gaan werken. dus laptop scherm en los scherm ernaast.

Het bureaublad wordt wel netjes opgerekt naar de 2 schermen, maar de resolutie van beiden schermen zijn gelijk. ( laptopscherm is 15" en de TFT 20") Ik zou dus graag op de 20" resolutie van 1680x1550 en op de laptop 1280x1024

Ik heb het nu ingesteld met sax2 en dan bureaublad uitbreiden door middel van xinerama.

Iemand nog ideëen in welke richting ik moet zoeken ?

Iets als dit hoort te werken.
Ik heb ook een 2e layout toegevoegd, met maar één monitor, dit omdat sommige applicaties niet om kunnen gaan met meerdere monitoren, en je tijdens het experimenteren makkelijk een werkende setup hebt.
Je start met één monitor op door in een terminal "startx -- -layout Singlehead" te typen.


BTW, is dit de originele xorg.conf? Hij is namelijk erg lang!

Moet je het wel goed doen, en de juiste identifier aan DefaultServerLayout meegeven he
Die xorg.conf komt uit sax2 rollen. Staat wel een hoop overbodige rommel in...
HorizSync en VertRefresh kunnen weg(worden automatisch bepaald), Modes-sectie doet ook lekker weinig, Mouse[1] en mouse[3] verwijzen beiden naar /dev/input/mice, in de Screen-secties kunnen de modes- en viewport-lijnen weg(als je die opgeeft zijn alleen die toegankelijk), en ik denk niet dat het de bedoeling is om je schermen te klonen.

Kun je /var/log/Xorg.0.log bekijken/hier posten? Dat maakt het voor ons wat makkelijker...
Mogelijke oorzaken: schermen zijn omgewisseld ingesteld. Dankzij het opgeven van modes gaat dat niet goed.
Ik weet niet zeker of "intel" een geldige driver-naam is. Kan zijn dat dat "i810" moet zijn.

Ik zal straks is even kijken of ik wat kan met de config file die geplaatst is met de aanpassingen die laurencevde aangaf.

Misschien kan je trouwens beter met xrandr werken, dan kan je in X beeldschermen aan- en uitzetten en de resoluties veranderen. Ook hoef je alles niet meer zelf in je xorg.conf in te stellen, dat kan dan namelijk - net als in Windows - door de juiste instellingen aan te klikken.

XrandR vervangt over een tijd alle dualscreen configuraties^*, zie voor meer info wikipedia en de site van debian. Bij debian kan je ook een uitgebreide informatie over alle opties vinden, vooral bij uitgebreide setups handig.

Waarom sax2 in je monitor-sectie een displaysize-optie (die volgens je log niet klopt) heeft neergezet is me ook een raadsel. Dat gaat grote letters opleveren...

Maar verder heeft die andere lau helemaal gelijk, en kun je beter XrandR gebruiken.
De ontwikkelaars van X.org willen helemaal van xorg.conf af, alles zoveel mogelijk autoconfigureren, en alle verdere beeldscherm-configuratie via xrandr doen.

Waarschijnlijk staan er ook één of meerdere Virtual opties in jouw xorg.conf, bij sommige chipsets gaat het fout als de virtuele schermgrootte groter is dan 2048x2048, echter is jouw totale resolutie hoger. Vervang de "Virtual" waardes in je xorg.conf eens naar "2960 1550", dit is de totale maximale resolutie van je schermen en hoort dus niet te overlappen.
