Red Alert 2 op WinXP SP3 werkt niet

Okay ik probeer een vriend te helpen die Red Alert 2 op zijn PC wil spelen, want RA3 trekt zijn PC niet.
Maar na installeren van de game en dan eerste keer opstarten, blijft het hangen op het splash screen en gaat niet verder.

Windows XP Home SP3
PC: HP Pavilion 762
Pentium 4 2,4Ghz
768MB ram
Nvidia Geforce4 MX 4000
Kan zo snel niet vinden welke DirectX versie

Heb al geprobeerd om het spel in Win95 compatibility mode draaien - werkt niet. Patch 1.006 online gevonden en die geinstalleerd, maakt niks uit.

Het gaat om een legale versie. Hadden ook een soortgelijk probleem met Emperor: Battle for Dune, ook legaal.

Iemand tips?

Various problems such as vanishing cursor, Crash To Desktop, and locking up. I've had them (mainly locking up), but when I finally figured this out, it solved them all.

This may be kind of a stupid and non-intuitive fix, but it DOES work. And as the saying goes, "if it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid."

These problems mainly seem to occur if you have more than 1 Admin-level account on the machine. Windows seems to want to use the default Aministrator account for it, and if you use a different account, it can choke and die in a fire.

You can run the game under any account and still make it think it's the Admin account:

1: Right-click on the shortcut/launcher.
2: Select "Run As..." from the menu.
3: Choose "The Following User" and pick "Administrator"
4: Hit Ok.

That's it.
